I live in Ulm, Germany, home of the Ulm Minster, the tallest church in the world. Apparently the Sagrada Familia is going to take that spot once it is finished. It also had a build time of over 200 years overall, with a big break of several centuries in the middle.
As a visitor you can go up narrow stairs to the top of the main tower. I love walking up there, it's like 15-20 minutes of stairs, and you are then rewarded with quite an amazing view, and the architecture is always a humbling experience. With good clear weather in the summer you can see the Bavarian alps over 100km away.

Did anyone watch it, what did you think? There seem to be rumors and conflicting stories on how fuzz and distortion were created. I tend to believe the movie, Josh seems to be a stand up guy and pedal collector and aficionado. Thoughts?

You mean Josh the JHS dude? Their entire pedal portfolio is a big collection of clones, see here. Also plenty of other small builders in there they ripped off.

Regarding the movie: the first 100 minutes that dealt with the history of pedals was a nice watch. I could have done without the rest of it which was a mix of the protagonists jerking themselves off  and self-adulation, only to squeeze in a justification for clones of other pedals as a legit business model in at the last second.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'd really like the switch to be a slide type (like in my first photo) but it looks as though the only ones with a skirt are rocker switches.

Dave, your file work looks great but I really don't trust myself to get it anywhere near as neat and square as you have managed.

Sorry I might have slightly misunderstood your first post. Skirted slide switches actually seem to be a rarity, this is what I could find:

Take your pick from Digikey.

There are also round ones.

Other than that, I agree a small file will get you there.

Does anyone know if Mouser carries these?

I placed an order at Smallbear a week ago but still hasn't shipped out.

Looking for an alternative. Hoping Mouser since it's one day shipping

I looked for a while once not wanting to order from Smallbear in Europe due to shipping cost, but couldn't find it.

Might differ from country to country as well. But you're right, pretty much all packages I receive from outside the EU, pcbs and components, are of Asian origin.

Ordering stuff now from the US and the shipping costs can be jaw dropping.

It used to be that when you ordered a small enough package from the US it would sneak underneath the radar. Anything in a small box used to be safe from customs inspections. Not anymore. Governments are getting greedy and want to squeeze us for EVERY amount that they can.
I have the feeling that more than ever gets through unscrutinized over the last year due to the overwhelming amount of packages they have to handle during the pandemy. I didn't pay import taxes on anything last year, even packages of a couple kilogramms where you would expect they'd take a look.

The mRNA vaccine is the greatest scientific achievement in at least 50 years.

In that case I'm sure you'd like to learn that the vaccine isn't actually a Pfizer invention, it's from the small (compared to Pfizer anyway) company BioNtech in Germany. Its inventor is a son of turkish immigrants named Uğur Şahin, who is also one of the founders. Pfizer simply supplies production capabilites and logistics for distribution. I find it interesting how rarely this gets appreciated, instead it's always "the Pffizer vaccine" when talked about by Americans or the media.

You would think people would have their facts in order before firing off a condescending reply...
Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman are consensus co-discoverers of mRNA vaccine technology and have been developing the mRNA vaccines for 15+ years- long before Pfizer, BioNTech, or Moderna. Their research was largely performed in the US and funded by US tax payers.

Uğur Şahin is an oncologist that founded BioNTech in 2008 (note the first mRNA paper was published in Science in 1990...by researchers at UW-Madison). BioNTech doesn't have any bigger role in "the discovery" of the mRNA vaccine than Pfizer, and to say "a son of immigrants invented the mRNA vaccine" is a fairy tale. In fact, i'd say the senior vice president of BioNTech had a bigger role in the discovery of mRNA vaccines... that's right, the senior VP of BioNTech is Katalin Kariko.

I was talking about the particular vaccine, I specifically said "the Pfizer vaccine", not the technology per se. Your anger seems to be misplaced, nothing of what I wrote was condescending in any way, I was merely stating a fact that many are overlooking.

The general concept of "more gain with more attack" would be easy enough to implement, details depend on the circuit you want to apply it to. For example, take a Tubescreamer and any old envelope follower that drives a LDR and an optocoupler. Put the resistive part of the coupler parallel to the 4,7k resistor of the gain stage.
When you hit the strings, the envelope follower will drive the LED of the coupler, the resistance decreases and the gain of that stage increases.

On the Superfuzz the Expander is just a standard volume pot style gain control.

Thanks everyone for posting the results. Will try out soon too I guess.

@Willybomb: did you use Inkscape too? If so how did you deal with the three layers? Tayda is asking in their instructions for "RDG_WHITE", but I haven't been able to import their color template file.

Search for "opto theremin", there is plenty of designs around.

I'd say just export a PDF page from Inkscape to the exact dimensions they give in mm with their templates.
