get a mig. easy and cleanest looking welds. i'd go with argon instead of flux core. you can get a decent new setup for 600 but craigslist it up and you might get a better rig for less.

how do you know if everything will sound good together? have you built all the circuits separately to figure order? do you just check the schem for phase issues? just curious. i've built some that i thought would be a good idea and ended up with needing to split them.

did you etch all the boards?

Nah these were fabricated pcbs.  A lot of these builders had very little to zero electronics knowledge so there was a lot to cover.  What components are polarized.  What is the socket for.  Does the socket have polarity.  You know, everything!

gotcha. good on you to hand out that knowledge. i never realize what i take for granted until i try to teach someone. kudos

in other words the kit linked in the build document did not have the correct ic. it was a 16 pin but we need the 18pin guy.

so i thought since all i needed to slap this badboy together was the ht8950 that i would just get it from amazon since shit it'll be here in two days. well finished her up and to my dismay the chip for the voicechanger vallman kit was a ht8950a. i'm missing two pins on it. well i plopped it in for shitsake and it plays but doesn't operate the options wah wa. i guess i'm to build a robot voice thing with it afterall. sucks. ready to rock the damn thing. :-\
