Is there a method in selecting the optimal variable resistor (potentiometer) for your DIY pedal project?
Eg: Bazz Fuss: Volume, Tone and Fuzz control. At the moment I'm using what ever I have on hand, but I assume there is some sort of method. I tend to prefer Linear to Audio taper. Maybe Audio might sounder better for Tone and even Fuzz, haven't tried that combo yet.

Noise is general buzzing/humming when volume is set full and not being played. Thanks for replies I'll box up and see how it goes.

I've breadboarded a bazz fuss circuit. I've added tone control and fuzz control I'm using MPSA 13 transistor. Works and sounds great. As I imagine there is a lot of noise with a pedal like this will noise be reduced when built in a metal enclosure? Is there any way to reduce unwanted noise?

Hi All I asked this question a while ago and I got replies thanks. I tried to implement the cap blend tone control
without success. I'm not too clued up with schematics. I'm at breadboard stage, and won't commit to perf board until sorted.
This is exactly what I've built (I've added a volume control, not shown) My end result is no change to tone which ever way I turn
pot. I'm obviously doing something wrong for it not to work, it's doing my head in, please help. Thanks Paul

Hey All, where and how do I add a tone control pot to this circuit (bazz fuss) I've tried to work it out on my own with no results. Advice would be greatly appreciated as I am a newbie to all this. Thanks in advance Paul

Hey all I've built a Bazz Fuss and I'm tweaking components I've upped the resistor to 100k,
changed C1 to 10uf C2 10uf added a gain control pot B2k connected to emitter leg of trans then back into socket. I was wondering if I put a resistor on the collector leg of trans I may be able to knock back output vol at full so it doesn't damage my amp. I know I can control volume with pot I just want to experiment reducing maximum pedal out put if I can. I like the tone of the MPSA13 Cheers PC

I don't have any other pedals connected I'm testing before boxing up. The link in your second response describes the problem spot on. I'll try increasing the value of resistor and or try changing the transistor. I do like the sounds of these simple old pedals but without the glitches. Thanks for your reply PC

He All built a bazz fuss using wiring diagram attached. Checking on youtube on how they sound
this one doesn't sound like anything I've heard, cuts in and out farty kinda break up fuzz sound not the smooth fuzz I was expecting. Can anyone suggest what the problem may be? Cheers PC

Hey All I've built (attempted to) a Wooly Mammoth Fuzz clone from wiring diagram I downloaded. See attached. Output signal and Fuzz are both very weak to the point of reducing volume of amp. Has anybody built this pedal and experienced the same problem?
If so could you please shed a bit of light on the possible cause and suggest a fix. Thanks Paul

Hey All I'm playing around with pedal sounds by swapping out components to see what happens, I was wondering if there is available online or in book form of what each components can do e.g. what combination of components gives me a fuzz sound, overdrive etc. How to add a tone control to a basic boost pedal etc. Cheers Paul
