Hi - I'm new to this forum and new to (analog) electronics altogether .
I'm about to build the SILVERFOX project (I have been playing Barber pedals for years and love them) - but I'm planning to replace the pots in the circuit with digital pots. Why? I would like to build a Super-Silverfox with the ability to save user presets (that's right) which can be recalled via MIDI messages. For this to work I will need to replace the analog pots with digital ones. However, digital pots are hard to find, especially values above 100K.
So, my question is: What impact does the pot value have on a circuit like the Silverfox?
If I was to use a 100K (digital) pot instead of the 1M-Gain-Pot, what changes would I have to expect?
Would the range of gain be the same - just more difficult to fine-tune?
What about the volume/tone pots?
(I do have a couple of 100K digital pots, and the vol/tone pots in the silverfox happen to be 100K, so I'm just asking out of curiosity.)
Sorry for my clumsy English (non-native speaker) and thank you for any input on this...
Phil
