General Questions / Re: Time variable soft start
August 17, 2011, 05:02:18 PM
The slow gear is a reverse envelope, what I'm looking to do is a smooth time variable transition from a clean sound to a dirty one. I need the effect to fade in, not the guitar. I think a simple LDR controlled mixer might be the way to go.

Open Discussion / Multiple delays
August 16, 2011, 06:53:24 PM
I'm thinking of building a few delays in one box. I don't have multiple finnished delays to test right now so my question is, are multiple delays more useful in series or parallel?

General Questions / Time variable soft start
August 16, 2011, 06:35:18 PM
Can anyone think of a way to switch on an effect so that it "fades in" to a preset volume? Probably couldn't be true bypass, but I think it would be useful for distortion type effects especially if you could control the fade in time. Any thoughts?

A simple LFO is all fine and good but how about using a more fantastic multiple waveform LFO with tap tempo? I saw these over at Small Bear:

I'd love to see a PCB for the Weber transformer, I have one of these waiting around to be used.

As far as DIY guitar synths go there's the formidable Mudic From Outr Space Sub-Commander

Expensive board, but a good looking project.

I'd like to see this one come back eventually. I designed two enclosures for it but only ever ordered one board when the new manufactured ones first came out and missed the sale like a lot of other people.  I don't see how order limits would bother most DIYers. I can't imagine ever ordering more than 2 or 3 of the same board at a time, and only then if I have some experiment planned. Priority should be given to the new products though... still waiting for the Weener Wah, forever.

There's  a Leslie pedal over at GGG, but like everything else interesting/unique over there, it's discontinued. At least they keep the project info up. The article is pretty interesting. This effect could be pretty awesome if you could switch rotor speed between fast and slow like a real Leslie. Maybe someone here can come up with a way to do that. This would be great for phasers too.

I don't think so. I can't remember ever seeing one with a cord hardwired. Even if it did there would be a transformer inside to convert to DC which could be omitted for external power. I have a old memory man with that configuration.

Well, that's part of the fun. It would probably be genius level, but I suspect that it wouldn't be much worse than an Aquaboy or Pork Barrel to build. Enough leg work has been done for the big brains to figure this out, I'd like to help but I mostly solder by numbers. Most of all, there is no Madbean phaser yet, and Bean's really should be the most awesome.

I've been wanting to put something like that together for a long time. Something like this only with pinout and hfe range.

About the MS-20 Filter, this is only the lowpass section so more accurately it's the filter from the MS-10. The filter on the MS-20 was multimode: low/high/band/notch or something like that. I think it had it's own ADSR as well. I've read somewhere that everything other than the envelope control should be pretty easy to add on with a switch and a few extra components. Hopefully these mods and Tim's suggestion about a clipping section can be added to Bean's layout.

Bean, so glad you're interested in this one!
