Open Discussion / Re: Sharkfin: Randomness

... and it works! great!!!

i have the impression, that the type of randomness also changed a little bit. the former one quite often had a sort of "dotted note" aroma. but maybe it's just a matter of tuning...

nevertheless no steady pattern any more or at least only for a very short period of time.

Well, let me translate that for not-so-well-educated people like me.

I "simply" have to twist two legs of the transistor Q4 as marked in the attachment (yellow arrow, lower left corner), right? Whereas I do not have to but anything into the middle hole...

Thanks! Does it replace any of the existing chips?

Open Discussion / Sharkfin: Randomness
December 10, 2021, 09:44:49 AM
My sharkfin build works great and is a lot of fun to play.

However quite often it looses it's randomness over time (e.g. after being engaged for 1 or 10 minutes, that's also random  :o) and stabilizes on a fix melodic pattern. Going back to a random behavior can be achieved easily by either re-engaging the pedal or slightly moving the speed pot. So there's a work around. Furthermore to me there seems to be no dependency to any of the tuning settings...

Any idea on how I could mod the pedal so that it permanently stays in a random state?

Open Discussion / road rage 12v output
May 24, 2019, 11:00:57 AM
hi there

is there a simple way to modify my road rage to output 12v? (used a lt1054)

road rage: ttp://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/_folders/Other/pdf/RoadRage_2015.pdf

found this, but do not understand it.

"....2. If you're using a regulated power supply -- or even just a One-Spot or anything else that puts out a consistent voltage -- use a few diodes to knock the input voltage down to about 7V. A single green LED might even do it. You can't really use a 6V regulator with a heat sink because your final voltage would be closer to 11V than 12V."

thanks

thanks, that's great...

hi there

i'm assembling a complete road rage (-9, 15, 18 v). can any body tell if the regulator used in the road rage needs to have a (additional) cooling (e.g. mounted onto the enclosure)?

thanks in advance,

Build Reports / Re: sharkfin (lfo cracking)

short update:

meanwhile i replaced the wires from to jacks to the 3pdt switch by shielded onces and routed these wires the other way round inside the enclosure (away from ic5 & ic6). furthermore i created some shield around the input, as well as the output jack.

all in all the clicking has been reduced significantly, even though it's still audible, especially when i switch on overdrive pedals that follow the sharkfin pedal.

i'll keep it that way for the moment, since i'm planning to use a pedal switching system, that should fix the problem 100%.

by the way, i had the impression that ic5 (and maybe ic6) contribute to the unwanted clicking and yes, i didn't use  the top mounted jacks. i wired jacks directly to the 3pdt pedal on/off foot switch.

once again, thank you all for your great support.

thanks to all of you for you contributions. maybe i didn't use the right words, so let me try once again to discribe under what circumstances the unvanted clicking happens.

1. the effect is set to s/h mode and
2. the pedal as a whole is switched off. (the 3pdt foot switch not the toggle switch is soldered to act as a true bypass switch)

i hope i could make it clear now ::)

however, i unsoldered the led, because i thought this might be the reason (it wasn't) and while moving the pcb i noticed that the unwanted clicking decreased. to me it looks like the problem is caused by induction. maybe the lfo components and the jacks are to close to each other. i'll try to apply some sort of shielding and keep you informed.

to hear the filter steps in s/h mode, when not playing is fine for me. i actually like that. but i hear them when sharkfin isn't engaged at all (true bypassed) ???

Build Reports / sharkfin (lfo cracking)
March 16, 2018, 07:27:44 PM
I recently build a sharkfin, which sounds great. unfortunately when set to sample / hold and even not engaged, I can  hear cracking noises in sync with the lfo :-[

any idea how I could remove the unwanted noise?

thanks in advance.
