Nice looking pedal,

Are you looking to sell any boards on here?

VFE Projects / VFE Alpha Dog at 18volts
September 27, 2021, 07:02:33 AM
Needing some advice here,

I am planing on putting two VFE boards into one build, a Fiery Horse, and the Apha Dog.

The Fiery Horse can be run with 9 or 18 volts.

Is there any reason I cant run the Alpha Dog at 18 volts, the LM308 should be fine, and I have a spare 18 output on my power supply.

Do you know if there will be diy kits again?

1- Yes, the input is to connect to the row labelled IN. Remember to connect this to the 3PDT foot switch as per the standard wiring diagram found at tag board website. .

2-  Switch A,B, and C refer to the inner tags on the 3P4T rotary switch. The numbers 1 -12 refer to the outer connector tags. Search 3P4T rotary for an image on the internet and you'll see what I mean.

3- Q1 refers to the transistor directly under the label Q1, near the middle of the board, Q2 and Q3 are labelled similarly. In this instance it isn't too important which is which, as they are all either 2n3904 or bc549, as per the note at the bottom of the image.

Hope that helps.

I wish I knew what brand my sidecutters are. I'm serious here. There is no branding, whatsoever, at all on them. Not imprinted on the metal, not dyed into the handles, nothing. And they're one of the toughest tools I have, have taken more than a decade of abuse, and are still really sharp.

Alanp those cutters look like the ones Dick Smith used to sell in a set for about five dollars, it also had some other tools like a socket set pliers and tweezers in it. You're right about them though, sharp and very durable, I've had mine for roughly fifteen years.

VFE Projects / Re: Choral Reef Troubleshooting

I've had a similar situation with a Porkbarrel Chorus.

I used an audio probe/circuit tester that's i built following instructions I found on the tagboard effects site.

http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/09/test-box-20.html?m=1

Once you have built this you will attach your pedal PCB to it and hook it up to your amp or other similar item.

You'll need the schematic for the Choral reef, and the circuit tester, from there you will check where the audio ends, For example test to see if audio is making it to your BBD, or other major devices, it's a fairly easy way to trouble shoot, and in this case avoids you swapping out expensive/obsolete components in an attempt to guess where the fault is.

Sorry missed the part where you had said you were using an audio probe.

Mods / Line 6 4 button series
January 13, 2020, 09:20:57 PM
Hi

I have a Line 6 MM4 modulation pedal that I would like to mod, in particular the volume drop, but also the expression knob mod and the extra presets mod.

Does anyone have any documentation/info that describes how to perform these mods, I've had a look and haven't had much success.

Also if there are other mods that can be done I'd be interested in these also.

Thank you in advance.

How did you guys find 'the time logged' in stat.

I had a look but couldn't find it.

I recently picked up a Mesa Tremo-o-verb 2x12, and so far it's pretty much shaping up as the swiss army knife of amps. Thrilled with it. About the only sound I have yet to get is the really clean fender tone, but it does just about everything else. Plus it has trem and reverb.

Also it is good enough for Ed O'Brien and Mike Einziger, then its probably good enough for me too.

Build Reports / Re: Mandroid build

Well joltjrs that post of yours gave me a very acute mini panic, had to go to the shed to see how many pins my HT8950 has (I have bits ready to go for a Mandroid), rather relieved to see I fluked it and got the right chip.
