I was listening to the bass fuzz on Frank Sinatra's "The World We Knew" and seen that Carol Kaye played the bass.  So I went on her webpage and emailed her to ask what effect that was and she replied! Only problem was she didn't remember the name of the pedal but she sent me a fuzzy picture of herself using it at the Sinatra session and after scouring the internet I found it was the BrassMaster.  This thing sounds amazing!  Thanks MadBean!

I got these from Electronic Surplus. But you just gotta watch on eBay, they come up once in a while.

Came across a couple more Triad A-11j transformers so I had to build another Wolfbox DI.  Once you play bass or guitar through one of these, you'll never want to plug in any other way.

Thank you! No graphics were laser etched.  But had to run the laser on it about 3 times to get it to look clean like that.

Is that a rare 'light plate' sighting there??? 

Yea light plate from SmallBear.  Since this thing has an LED that's controlled by the envelope filter, I figured I might as well make it visual!

I think this is My favorite build. If you want that classic funkadelic Bootsy Collins sound, Naughty Fish can't be beat!

I like this pedal in BB size enclosure, which is closer to the big Mutron size pedal.

I want to make my LED1 (the envelope driven one) brighter. Would that be resistor R23 or R26??

Ok. You've done it again.  That face plate is gorgeously done.  So freaking jealous of your skills.  Seriously that thing is just amazing.

Could you do a tutorial on this? Plse.

At some point, I may do a tutorial, but the process is fairly easy to describe (it's not all that complicated, really).

1.)  Paint one side of an 1/16" (or 1.5mm) sheet of acrylic with paint of your choice.  I usually choose black.

2.)  Lay out vector artwork in the program of your choice (I use Adobe Illustrator).

3.)  Flip the artwork along the horizontal axis so that text is backwards.

4.)  Etch/cut the plate out on a laser engraver.  I etch with a raster operation and cut it with a vector operation.  With the engraver I use, the line thickness dictates (0.1 stroke) dictates if it's a vector cut.

5.)  Clean off the excess material from the etching.  Usually compressed air works just fine for this.

When you are done, you flip the plate over so that the etching has the text read forward, which puts the etch on the bottom of the acrylic plate, protecting the remaining paint when it's installed on the pedal.

What etcher do you use? And do you glue the acrylic onto the enclosure? Or just screw it down?  Looks gorgeous! Great work!
