Open Discussion / Re: Any NBA fans out there?

I think LeBron is going to LA or Houston (especially if the Rockets lose to the Warriors in the WCF). Also re: his family, it came out this year while the Cavs were struggling that both LeBron's wife and mom begged him to not go back to Cleveland. His whole family splits time between Miami and LA.

Hey y'all,

I'm putting together a Blueshift right now and I have everything but that last capacitor. I ordered his provided Mouser shopping cart of parts back in October, but that pesky 4.7u low-profile bipolar capacitor remains out of stock. Frustrating to get the email every couple weeks when the projected ship date passes kicking the can down the road. I'm only missing that one cap and it's driving me crazy right now. My question is if I can use a regular polar 4.7u electrolytic cap, if I can use a different value or if anyone has a different 4.7u bi-polar guy.

(important to note that capacitor that is not low-profile will not fit)

are you using dust covers or electrical tape to keep your pots from grounding out any of the components on the circuit board? that's happened to me a few more times than i'd like to admit. if you're using solder lug pots, i've found that if you're lazy and don't tin your wires first that you can get a poor connection or breakage on a lug.

also double check your 3PDT wiring.  :)

hey y'all,

I totally messed up and lifted both pads on c14 on my current lover. I'm not very good at reading schematics so if someone could show me where to put this capacitor in the circuit, I'd be really appreciative.

thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Quick Mudbunny Question
March 11, 2016, 02:05:16 AM
Hey guys!

I'm building the triangle version of the Mudbunny and I was just wondering for the omitted components if I jumper them or just do nothing with those pads.

Thanks,
Ben

We are in buisness. I only destroyed one of the BC239s but I bought extras because I figured something like this would happen. Thanks again, Brian.

whoops! That makes sense. Thanks Brian.

I use my Ditto x2 all the time live.

Hey ya'll. I'm building this mudbunny to Ram's Head specs with BC239c's, I'm having a few issues with it. I'm getting barely any volume out of it; even with all the knobs maxed, it's waaay under unity. I checked my components and they all seem to be correct (besides using a 3n9 instead of a 4n, but I really doubt that it's the issue). I also made sure that the BC239c transistors are orientated the same way they are on the silk screen and I'm pretty sure that they're the same.

Honestly, knowing me, I've probably got a bridge somewhere, but I've reflowed my joints and I can't see one.

My transistors readings are as following:
Q1: 7.52, 0.56, 0.01
Q2: 7.76, 0.51, 0.01
Q3: 7.75, 0.56, 0.01
Q4: 7.86, 0.92, 0.31

Those emitter voltages are pretty low on Q1-3. Can you guys help?

One more question, ya'll. Is there anything I can do to make the repeats a little brighter? The mod suggested in the PDF to make the Dirtbaby darker is to change C9 and C10 from 2n2 to 4n7 to make it darker. Would lowering those cap values make it a little brighter?

Got it up and running 100% tonight, first try even. All my voltages are right on. Wow I'm so much better at this than I was even a week ago. I built a couple of big muffs for some friends that made for some great extra practice before tackling this again. Thank you guys so much for your help. Probably would have given up if not for the support of this community. :D

Extra big shout out to Brian for being a #1 dude.

Round 2 has begun and it's going well! I just have one question: R16 is supposed to be 20k, but I don't have one of those on hand. Can I use an 18K or 22K instead?

oh wow, thanks Brian! that means a lot!!! ;D I'll send you an email later tonight.

update: made it way worse. this is a farce. lifted all the pads on this IC. maybe I should take a mulligan on this build.  :(
