Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Slow Loris Issue
November 22, 2010, 08:43:42 PM
Well I just tried reflowing the solder, and still nothing - and I'm measuring this right before and after the component - on the solder joint itself.  The input to C9 produces sound, but the output lead/solder joint does not.  Any other crazy ideas?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Slow Loris Issue
November 22, 2010, 08:03:14 PM
Hey guys, so I'm currently in the process of building a Slow Loris for a friend of mine, and am running into a problem.  I ran a signal tester over the circuit board (one from BYOC, put in signal to input, listen to output from spots on the board), and found that I was getting signal into C9, but no signal out.  I assumed, therefore, that my capacitor was bad, so I ordered another one and replaced it, but the same problem kept occurring.  The one I just put in is a Topmay TCM07 63V 5mm box with a +/- 5% tolerance.  Any suggestions on what I should try next?  Oh, and it's a ver. 1 board, if that makes a difference.

Thanks a lot!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Darkside Sad Face :(
August 18, 2010, 12:36:54 AM
So I just finished wiring up my Darkside, and it don't work.  Bypass works, but there's a pretty noticeable drop in volume on the bypass signal.  When it's engaged, no signal - no LED.  I seem to have messed up the DC jack wiring on about every other pedal, so I tried switching the + connections on the DC jack to no avail.  It seems that I'm not getting 9V to the board, since the buffer isn't working on bypass, but I'm not sure what else to check on it.  I read somewhere else about somebody having a problem with this build, and madbean asked if he/she was using +9V or not.  I'm not 100% sure what that means.  I have a power supply and I've been using the standard cables that work on every other pedal I have - but do I need to use a reverse polarity cable for this pedal or something?

Thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Re: Aristocrat Problems :(

Actually I just got it fixed!  I did the rewiring of the power jack as suggested above, but that wasn't entirely successful - so then I consulted some wiring diagrams of other pedals I've built and realized that the sleeve or ring (don't remember which) of the input jack wasn't grounded, and needed to be.  So I stole ground from somewhere and tada!  I'm not sure if the layout itself is messed up - I like quadruple checked my work and I don't think I messed it up anywhere, but perhaps I was wrong.  Anyways, I've got another aristocrat that I'm going to wire up over the next few days, so I'll see if I have to make the same changes or if I just messed up the first time around.  Regardless, thanks guys!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Aristocrat Problems :(
August 04, 2010, 08:25:50 PM
So I'm working on my first of two aristocrat builds, and I'm running into a couple of trouble spots.  As of currently, the pedal does not run on battery power, and also doesn't bypass when not being supplied with DC power to the jack.  I tried reversing the + poles on the DC jack already, which got me to this point - before doing so the pedal just plain wouldn't work at all.  Anybody have thoughts on why this might be?

General Questions / Cap Choices?
June 18, 2010, 03:12:48 AM
Is there any way of differentiating between different types of caps in the layouts?  Certainly you can tell which ones are electrolytic and which are box, but anything besides that?  Does it matter if I use film/tantalum/ceramic for the unknown kinds, and is there one type I ought to use?

Thanks so much!
