General Questions / Fuzzrite PCB?
April 08, 2021, 12:26:50 PM
Does anybody know where to find a germanium Fuzzrite pcb?  Have found several silicon versions, but no germanium.  There are a couple of vero layouts I've seen, but prefer to build with pcb's.

General Questions / McCoy Wah Build Issue
December 18, 2019, 02:04:08 AM
I'm stuck on figuring out what could be going on with this McCoy Wah build. I used a Vox wah housing and added an old style board and parts. I think I have it wired correctly from comparing to photos online. I added a 9V adapter but think it's correct as far as wiring. It will pass sound both off and on, but it's VERY quiet and no wah effect. Does anybody see any glaring issues in these pictures?

There is a no slope version. http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg16.htm#noslope

Looks like that's the one! Thanks so much!

Man that's on the right track!  But I'm looking for a flat version—I've attached another photo showing what I mean. Ever seen one of these?

General Questions / Need help finding this enclosure
August 05, 2019, 02:53:07 AM
Does anybody know what type of enclosure this is?  I like the style but can't find it at any of the pedal-specific suppliers.

Removing it from the enclosure worked!  It looks like the dual gang was shorting out on the enclosure.  I only had a pcb mount pot that didn't fit, so modified it by clipping the legs and soldering wires to the holes adjacent to the pot, which must've left just enough solder height to touch the box.  I'll just tape it all up and should be good to go. Thanks for the help guys!

Actually didn't try it before boxing.  I'll pull it out and see if that makes a difference.

Here's a picture of the board.  Haven't used an audio probe yet—hopefully there's an obvious mistake?

Wondering if somebody can help me figure out what's going on with my Pitch Pirate clone built on a PedalPCB Pitch Witch board.  The pedal works and the warped delay effect range is really cool, but it's doing a weird thing I think is related to not allowing any clean signal through.  As I turn up the delay, there is an increasingly significant gap between when I pluck a string and when the note sounds.  I'm wondering if the blend function works, because with the blend completely off, no signal passes.  And there's never any clean signal that passes with any blend pot setting.  From the demos I've heard, there should be a clean signal with the delay layer over it.  Could this be a bad PT2399 by any chance?  Or a bad double gang pot?

Hoping somebody can help me answer my question about how to add a 100R resistor to the Q3 emitter for a MKII on veroboard.

I breadboarded this circuit and it sounds great.  I included the 100R resistor as shown in the schematic I used.  I ran the resistor from the emitter to the lug of the attack knob as shown in the schematic.

I just populated the board using the attached vero layout.  It unfortunately doesn't include the 100R resistor.

I'm a little puzzled about how to add the resistor to the board.  I've done a couple of really basic drawings of the two approaches I'm thinking of (pardon the crude brown resistors with blue leads 😃):

A. Realizing now I don't think this will work because I have the 100R resistor running to the same track as the 10nF, 470R, and 8.2K.  Should it run to ground instead?

B. Here the 100R resistor just runs between the emitter and attack pot without going anywhere else.

I'm a little lost here and obviously bad at converting schematics to vero.  Would somebody knowledgeable in this area be willing to help me out?  Thank you!

Edit: Ok, I've been told I can do option B and just cut a trace between them 😃

Open Discussion / Re: LIC Pedals PSA

Confirmed the guy took off with my money.  Total bummer—I've bought some great stuff from him in the past.

Open Discussion / LIC Pedals PSA
March 03, 2019, 01:12:11 AM
I hate to post something like this, but doing this as a PSA for anybody considering buying from Chris at LIC pedals.  I've done business with him in the past and he has been great.  He has lots of great online reviews.  But I placed an order a couple of months ago and it was never delivered.  Many ignored emails and phone calls later, I've discovered he has closed up shop and disappeared.  His eBay shop is down, but his website is still up and you can still place orders.  I'm currently filing a PayPal claim to hopefully get my money back, but wanted people to know this since orders can still be placed on his site.

General Questions / Metal Shaft Rotary Switches
June 09, 2018, 03:07:23 PM
I'm building a Voodoo Vibe and have single deck 4p3t and 2p6t rotary switches—the black plastic kind with the plastic shaft.  I'm not crazy about the plastic shaft—worried  if I ever snap it off the repair would be a nightmare.

Does anybody know of a source for metal shaft rotaries?  I can find double deck metal shaft versions, but cant find single deck anywhere.

Thanks, this makes parts sourcing much easier.
