Build Reports / Re: Lovetone Brown Source 1:1 clone

I built one of these about 10 years ago on a vero board.  I think of it a more of a boost pedal with some eq with the mid scoop/ flat/ mid boost switch.

I found a great use for it that may not be many other people's cup of tea.  I use it as a mid boost into a Zen drive.  That nails the Iron Maiden 7th son tone.

Nice build!

I get great cleans out of mine, with the boost turned off of course.

I don't get it.  Fucked up paint on the body.  No finish on a maple neck, which means it will eventually turn into a pretzel.  And it has John Mayer's name attached to it?  Was the John Oates strat not available?

My first (and only, so far) amp build was the Firefly amp.  Built it this summer and love it!  Added a TMB tone stack to it.  Just make sure you do one of the more well known amp builds that has a good set of instructions.

Wow!

It does piss me off that a guy with this much talent can go relatively unknown, yet that "Call me maybe" song is the biggest song in the US.

I bought a used Boss GE-7 and bought the Monte Allums mod for it.  It really quieted that pedal down.  It's probably my favorite pedal now.

I usually do about 2 batches a year.  Been brewing since 1998.  It is nice cause I live a few miles from one of the biggest brewing stores in the country.  Northern Brewer in St Paul, MN.  I converted a small fridge where I can fit my glass carboy fermentors in it for lagering.  I got sick of bottling after the first couple of batches, so now I keg.  I would suggest that to anybody who home-brews.  Luckily, I have an extra fridge in the garage so I can fit 2 5 gallon kegs with a tap for each one on the front of the fridge.

Here are some pictures I took during the different brewing stages

Beautiful walnut!!  I had to go back and look at it after reading the comments.  I didn't notice it was tele shaped at first.  The pickguard and headstock threw me off.

Did you build that enclosure for a Cherrybomb before, or am I just having a flashback?

Honestly, fretting (no pun intended) over a couple of component values is not going to make a big difference.  What you posted above for the Ram's head will be good enough.  There are so many other factors that go into the Gilmour sound.  I would suggest putting a Colorsound Overdrive after the Ram's head.  Set it up at slight overdrive.  That is what I do.  It sound so much better that way.

Another thing to do is socket C5, C6, C8, C9.  Try lowering and raising these values slightly.  For instance for C5 and C8 try between 330p and 560p and for C6 and C9 try between 47n and 220n.  You may find some values that fit your gear better.

Blender, definitely!

Does anybody know if this blender will work with a Ross comp?  Is the output of the Ross comp in phase with the dry signal?

Not to hijack the thread, but I have the same issue.  Here's the weird part: No whine when the hi-gain pot is in the circuit at any level.  When the low-gain pot is in circuit, I get whine when it is over 1/2 rotation.  I am using a 50kB for low-gain and a 500kA for hi-gain pots.  I am using a MAX1044 charge pump.

I originally had a TC1044SCPA, but then I would get the whine on the high gain pot.

Build Reports / Omega Muff
May 23, 2012, 02:58:49 AM
Finally got around to boxing this one up.  It is just what the title says: An Omega from ROG into Jack Orman's Muffer.  I added a tone control between the Omega and the Muff.  This is very versatile.  It can go from a nice overdrive to a full-on heavy fuzz.

The Range and Tone control work fabulously in this circuit.  It is a bit noisy.  Will replacing the electrolytic caps in the signal path with non-polar help quiet it down?

Here is the schematic and vero:

Grabbed this image off the internet and put it in a PPP lime green enclosure.  Of course, I didn't realize until after I cut out the holes that the text was off slightly.

Of course the gut shot.
