Hmm maybe it's not as simple as just sticking in a new LDR then. Mine is definitely noticeable when it's on, and I was only looking for a subtle warble anyway, but it would be nice to get a bit more out of it.

I measured the LDR in there and it only gets to about 1.2M fully dark. The doc called for 20M so I have to think it would get a bit more pronounced with a different one or a vactrol.

I used the Tagboard layout and mine sounds pretty good to me. I certainly didn't use anything special, just a cheap eBay LDR and (I think) a standard 5mm red LED with the top bent towards the LDR. I will try to measure the LDR when I get a chance and report back.

The orange and yellow stripes work really well Bengt. Noel Overdrive is a great name for a guitar player, so the gift is bound to get plenty of use.

That's what I'll do next time my Mexi-Strat is in bits. I used a push-push pot on my Strat build and it works very well. Extra sounds for minimal cost and effort.

My reaction to the sad news says it all: I dug out The Colour of Magic and started reading. I've just got to the "dentishtry" quote in The Light Fantastic and I will probably keep going until I've read all of the series. Then I'll start on all the other books.

I can't get my head around the reality of "The End" because for the last thirty years or so I've always had the next book to look forward to. Oh bugger.
