Does anyone happen to know about C6?

I hate to ask for more help, but does anyone know where the side of C6 that is not connected to C4 goes? On the PCB shot it does not show a trace for the other side of it.

Has anyone built this circuit? I have a friend that is requesting one in a box along with the Ruiner. I found the PDF that lsit most of the Devi circuits and got the Ruiner working jsut fine, including a toggle to take it down to a single dark boost. Where I am stuck is on the Year of the Rat circuit.

Page 4 shows the circuit for the Soda Mesier which is related to the Rat circuit. It says to put a 1K in R7 and a 104 in C7, but the schematic shows neither of those positions.

Looking at the PCB on the enxt page they are shown. I asked around and someone said the PCB is double sided, so I am not sure where to put the two missing pieces of the puzzle.

If anyone knows anything about this circuit, I would greatly appreciate some help.

I guess I am glad that everyone ignored my question...I was in bed last night and started thinking about it and see what I was missing...it kind of works exactly as patching, but with one exception right? When you patch you are coming from either the bright or normal input on one channel into either the bright or normal inputs on the other channel. Would that make the tone different than using a Y to plug straight into an single input on both channels?

Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and built it out to standard spec and passed on figuring out how to use the bi-color led. IT does use a stereo jack and I got it all working. I am going to etch the enclosure tonight...my first attempt at etching an enclosure. Wish me luck!

I jsut bought a Vox Nightrain G2 combo amp and am planning a footswitch build for it.

I am building this is a 1590A and would like to add a feature that I am not sure how to wire.

The amp has two channels that will be switchable by footswitch one. There is an LED that indicates that the switch has been engaged. What I would like to do is use a bicolor LED to show green when the switch is not engaged and red when engaged. I have the extra position on the switch for this, but I do not understand how to do this without closing the circuit...It appears that closing the circuit is what changes the channel on the amp. Is there a way to engaged the green side of the LED without closing the circuit? Maybe a transistor in the circuit? I am a newb when it comes to this and I appreciate any help that you guys can give me.

I was looking at this and I am a bit confused. I see that an ABY is going to let him send his guitar to input A or input B or both at the same time....but when I think of jumpering channels on an amp, I am not sure the ABY gets that done. What I think he would need is a switch that would let him plug his guitar into it and then in one position send the signal to a single input on the amp, in another send it to the other position on the amp and then in the third, create a bridge between the two unused inputs on the amp....Am I misunderstanding this? When you jumper the channels, you plug into say input 1 on one channel and then input 2 of that same channel would be patched over to input one of the second channel.  So I would think an AB switch could let him choose between input 1 on channel one or input 2 on channel two and a second switch would bridge the gap between channel 1 input 2 and channel 2 input 1. This would require 4 cables to the amp. Am I jsut really missing the solution?

Cool. I have not tried it at 18 yet, but will soon. The Power Booster did run at 18v didn't it? Maybe that is why it did not have as much of that s trail to it. I live in an apartment, so not a lot of amp play time after dark. I tend to play through a pod at night and the overdriver sounds great through it, I can't say the same for all drive pedals running into it though.

Agreed about the Black 65, but I run it into a Princeton and can get pretty close to sounding like my amp.

Interestingly enough, I got the pedal back out tonight and ran it through a mildly driven amp and the noise is no detectable. It worked great as a mild bit of gain boost that way as well. Sounded great!

Thanks for the reply! So funny thing about this! I have a pod hd and an M13 that I sometimes use. I have always steered clear of the drives on those units, not that they are totally unusable. Well I remembered that there were a couple of drive models on there that had this weird kind of sizzle sound that I thought was digital clipping or something...low and behold they have a Colorsound Overdriver clone in their and that sound I thought was digital clipping is the model of the sizzle sound the actual circuit makes! I thought that was quite humorous.   Took me a while to put 2 and 2 together on that one.

I just had never played a real one before and a lot of the clips of it, the player is not letting the note die off in the way that would demonstrate that sound. I ended up building the Grapevine and a Wampler Black 65 and am very happy with both of them as lower gain overdrives. I have the 8ball and Sparklehorn on deck to build as well. I think I am hooked!

I am going to try out the 18 volt idea tonight! I am curious as to what is actually happening that causes that sound though...is it a slow discharge of voltage through the transistors? IF so would there be a way to add a light noise gate after ward to cut it out? Not that I plan on doing this, just kind of curious as to what actually causes that sound.

Skip that.  It sounds great with the noise on higher gain and I like it, I will just use something else for that medium gain where I do not care for the fizz sound.

I totally found your feedback helpful for sure...I have a huge amount to learn and I try my best to be a sponge.

Now I get to put it in my CloneSound enclosure. Did not come out as nice as I had hoped....but my Slow Loris one came out much better. This is a fun hobby, I can see I am going to run into some frustration at times and having the members of this forum around really makes that easier to deal with. Thanks a bunch for everyone's help!

Okay, so I did a quick crappy recording of it using my hand held. I tried to find a setting that accentuated the effect. When I converted it to MP3 and uploaded it to SoundCloud it lost high frequency, but the sound is still there. Now it sounds like it blends into the actual note more than it does in person, but it does show the kind of splatty sizzle I hear with the pedal.
