Tech Help - Projects Page / Power Switching Issue
January 02, 2015, 01:07:21 AM
Hey Guys

Experimenting with using a 9v plug/Battery switch in a fuzz using a switchable dc jack.

With the battery plugged the pedal works perfectly, however when I use the plug (battery disconnected) it's just silence.

Attached is a photo of the guts (Top left of board is 9v on board)

I know black end of battery is not attached to ring, was just experimenting to see if I could get plug to work

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Pot Values
December 22, 2014, 04:30:43 AM
Hey Guys,

Sorry if there's a post on this already somewhere... I've been digging around online and haven't been able to find any good info.

My question is about the value of pots and how changing that value changes the parameter.

For example I built the big muff board recently and wanted to try setting the sustain at a lower base (zero) level

Is there an easy rule to follow here? Higher pot value = MORE (vol/sust/intensity/treble/whatever)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey Guys

Just finishing up the board on a ZPM2 and I'm having an issue with the power.  As soon as I connect the +9v lead from my dc jack to the board, it starts humming like crazy.  Tried using power from an external test rig as well as a battery, same problem.

Any idea what the cause could be?  Attached a 2mb video from iphone just to give a better idea

Thanks guys!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Double Flush Effects
July 27, 2014, 11:46:31 PM
Hey Guys,

Recently built a double flush tremolo and after some initial testing, I've run into some issues.  The bypass works fine, and when the pedal is switched on the LED lights up, but won't pass any signal.  However, you can hear the LFO working, and as you can hear in the audio clip attached it still seems to obey all pot parameters (level, depth, etc).  Just no guitar signal.  Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply

I saw those toggles and figured that was the appropriate part (I'm ordering through Mouser), but I'm hesitant to order because it looks like 3 contacts on those SPDT toggles, and yet only two contact points for the switch on the PCB.

Hey guys,

In the process of parting out a Bacon Bits boost board and had a question about the Switch component.

It's listed as an SPST/DT, but all I can find when searching is a momentary footswitch, which doesn't seem right, I would think it would be a toggle switch for that parameter?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hey Guys,

Working on my first build (Mudbunny Green Russian), and looking over the standard MadBean wiring diagram I'm unsure of exactly how to hook the power.  The diagram features a 3 prong dc jack (to include battery snap), but I can't figure out which is which on my jack!  I also will not be using a battery snap.

Here's the jack: http://www.bitcheslovemyswitches.com/#!/~/product/category=5027592&id=18921807

(The prong further away in the picture is longer)

Any help would be appreciated!

Also as a side note, is the G just left of the +9v socket on the PCB necessary for my purposes?

Thanks

Open Discussion / Silvertone 1482 Tremolo
April 19, 2014, 07:03:24 PM
Hey guys, this may be a shot in the dark but I'm looking to build a tremolo pedal using the same circuit as the sweet silvertone 1482 trem.  I'm still getting used to translating schematic to actual component configuration in a chassis, but my biggest question to start would be about the tube (6au6) to run it.  I think this would actually be cool to include in the pedal (seen a few boost/preamp pedals out there w/ tubes), but how difficult would this be?  Maybe easier to skip the tube and opt for a different method for power?

Here's an attachment of the 1482 schematic: http://www.freeinfosociety.com/media/pdf/3234.pdf

Trem section is all the bottom left I believe

Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

General Questions / Bumblebee Transistors
April 10, 2014, 10:51:35 PM
Hey,

First time builder of a MB board, was looking to start with the 'Bumblebee' only to find that the necessary trio of NKT213's cost around 15 a piece from what I saw!

Was wondering how much flexibility there is with substituting a different transistor, such as an AC127 or AC187?

Or would a silicon be better?

Thanks!
