OK. The usual suspect, the wall wart caused the noise.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Noisy retrograde
December 16, 2014, 03:00:16 AM
Hello all, I have built my second retrograde! I gave the first one away as a gift. This one seems more noisy than the first one even when I don't have the fuzz up to half?  Any suggestions how to trouble shoot? Thanks.

Hello there. I am trying to build a pitch to voltage convertor from a board designed by Harry Bissel. It calls for +12v and -12v for power. Can I modify the road rage to provide these voltages? Thanks.

The Neovibe does not produce a good vibrato on the first 2/3 of the depth or the first 2/3 of the speed. My voltages fall in line with those voltages listed on the schematic, except the voltage on the lamp driver circuit are 16V not ~11V given on the schematic. Plus, using an 18vac transformer I am seeing 26V after the diode bridge, which is greater than 17V as described on the schematic.
My lamp is adjusted to a dull glow when speed and depth are down and pulses nicely and brightly when all is up.
I went with a brass box enclosure, with a foil coating inside and the photoresistors are parallel to the PCB, pointing up. The photoresistors are not flat against the board but float a mm or 2 of the board because the legs would not allow the situation of the photoresistors flush.
The sound is rich and swirly, just the range is limited, and certainly seems less variable than vids I have watched.
Attached is the schematic.

Hello, I finished a Neovibe but now I am thinking of building a Harbinger One if it has more variation? My Neovibe sounds great but is only effective on the last third(fastest) of the speed knob and last third(deepest) of the depth knob?
Is the Harbinger One more flexible?

Thanks. I ended up getting a kit of 4LDR and bulb from banzai.

Here is the data sheet for the one small bear used to have.

Hello, I see that Small Bear is out of stock on the LDR recommended in the build PDF. I have read that some folks are getting the LDRs in a kit from banzai. Before I saw this, I was investigating getting some of the ones from China on ebay.
I have tried to grasp a close replacement with those available and found that maybe gl-5539 or gl-5549 were closest. Any help here, please. I'll attach a data sheet for the one out of stock at small bear and the ones I found.
By the way, if you know where I can get the right ones, I'll forgo all this...
