Open Discussion / Re: Meditation: Anyone into it?
March 23, 2016, 01:22:27 AM
I meditate with my 10yo daughter every morning. Not only is it a great morning ritual to look forward to, practicing mindfulness actually helps develop executive function. My daughter is on the highly functioning end of the autism spectrum, and we both have ADHD. She imagines a serene, calm place with beautiful horses next to a calm stream. Distractions are when the horses get out. Mindfulness to her is being able to keep the horses in.

+1 for Headspace app. Great way to learn how to meditate.

lawl.

just dont go there and touch yourself, at best they'll throw you out. at worst, call the cops.

It should be fine, as long as I yell out Lenny, and say The mojo helped me channel SRVs tormented spirit, still trapped inside the pedal. They'll just quietly double the price. Hehe

That's like 3 blocks from my office. I should go down there and see if they'll let me touch it. Maybe some of the mojo will transfer. ;)

Quick follow up: I was able to get some guidance on the ampgarage forum. In a nutshell, I'm going to take a lead off one of the loops LED indicators. When that loop is engaged, the LED will light up, sending enough voltage to an NPN transistor to change to a base/collector state. The collector will connect to the tip of a Jack. Voila. Amp channel switching. Admittedly, it's a hack, but I'll take it. :)

I'll post a drawing once I finalize.

Cheers!

Hello? Cujo?

Lol. Seriously, any thoughts? How can I use audio to close a circuit? Love to hear your ideas.

Cheers!

Or put the money in a 1-year CD and get something nice when your graft is finished.

That... Is brilliant.

Really sorry to hear when anything like this happens. A close friend of mine was attacked with a golf club (9 iron or whatever)... He almost lost 3 fingers on his left hand and sustained significant head trauma. He was diligent about his PT and back playing in a year. Same thing with my best friend/drummer. He had his forearm nearly completely severed. They re-attached it. I would say he's better now than before the accident. The point is, the human spirit can overcome a ton of adversity. Hang in there man!

I had kids, and am slowly overcoming that. Hehe

Cheers, and Godspeed!

Hi all,

I picked up a Joyo pedal looper a couple years ago and am now regretting not spending the extra $50 or whatever for the amp channel switching connection. The question is, can a signal sensing pedal be added to one of the loops (say the clean channel)? The pedal would sit in the loop and when no signal is present, would have the crunch channel on. When I engage a loop intended for clean, a signal flips an optoisolator or whatever and changes the amp channel (also passing signal if you wanted to actually put a pedal after it).

Thoughts? I don't think optoisolatos flip when you hit them with audio but maybe something like a compressor threshold circuit that would send some voltage to a jfet or optoisolator? Something like a side chain maybe? Any input to get me going in the right direction would be most appreciated. I'll happily pull together a schematic and pcb to share. I really want to avoid tap dancing. #firstworldproblems

Hi all,

Apologies in advance for not answering this for myself but I'm away from my rig currently. I recently got an amp with a line level loop, which my Dirtbaby didn't seem to agree with (distorted delayed signal). I had always thought this was an output volume control and had tried to set it around unity.

In looking at the schematic, it looks like the level control is actually for setting input level. Is that true? If so, I should be able to dial back some of the heat and make the Dirtbaby happy again.

Cheers!

Global Annoucements / Re: Important: Read This, Please
January 21, 2016, 02:06:11 AM
People talk about data loss like its some homogenous commodity, but the truth is, losing stuff we care about is really hard. Think about this... When is the last time you rummaged through your garbage. It was most likely because you were looking for your keys or some other really important document. That feeling of relief when you find them is priceless.

I'm really happy the forum is back up. It's confusing as hell though. I almost responded to an ancient thread. I wish we could just draw a line in the topic list and start fresh. Super bummed about all that we lost, though. And my post count... Fuuuuuuuuck... Baxter to destroying diodes? Weak sauce!

Also bummed about the build of the year. I entered knowing full-well I wouldn't win. After LeeVibe posted his work of perfection, I wondered if I'd made a massive newbie mistake. But I entered 1) for the fun of it, 2) as a historical mark of my progress. That's gone, and so is my accomplishment of winning the Mr. Irrelevant title. But whatever, I know I won and that's all that matters. lol

In all seriousness, it's so great that we're back! Sadly, this happens all the time. Let's get back to business, and before you know it, well barely even remember this happened.

Cheers!

Thanks for giving it the ol' college try, Brian. Honestly, the DMM doesn't have tails so I'm not too broken up about it. Can you get tails by running it in a switchable loop?

Cheers!

I had my Dirtbaby shipped to work so I'd have it in my hot little hands sooner (packages get to me by about 2:00, as opposed to waiting until I get home. hehe). Looks like my order was delayed a day or two, and the tracking says it'll be delivered on Saturday... Naturally, I don't work weekends.

Perfect, this'll get me by until the official doc is released.

Thanks!

Howdy Brian,

ETA on the Dirtbaby doc? Ive got a board coming my way and wanted to start gathering the parts. And also I'm a little impatient.  :P

Thanks Rej, I must've missed it the first time through. I'll give it a more thorough pass.

Thx for the link! So is v2 a simplified build or will it have a different feature set? I really wanted to build v1, but I got all hot and bothered when I saw a v2 in the works!

Any other info on this bad boy?

Cheers!
