Hey bruhs,

built me a little true bypass phase 45. Its pretty cool. I built another little JFET tester circuit to match the JFETS. I ended up housing that circuit too, and made a little breakout with some header pins and alligator clips. I ended up going through and testing a bunch of JFETS so it was worth it. Anyways heres a couple pics. Still working on working on cleaner wiring, but you know its just my hobby. Well that and Im punk as fuck 

Whats up compadres. I pulled out a mud bunny I built about year ago and it looks like it decided to stop working. When the effect is engaged and I crank the amp I can hear the faintest sound of my guitar signal, but thats about it. It was working before, as I tracked with it at work a while back and it sounded great. It was late so I did a quick once over, took some voltages and checked for ground and loose solder joint. Q4 looked a little suspect. Need to check the shem, maybe something is up with the bias resistors on Q4? Below are my voltages. Im going to see Brendan Kelly from the Lawrence Arms tonight but after that Im gonna tray some more trouble shooting with my testing rig. If anyone has any sage advice let me know. Thanks homies!

Yea man, I especially like the Amp and Pedal shows they put on. All the vendors are in there own hotel rooms and you can bring your own guitar and crank it up without any noise police hassling you like namm. Also its right by the airport so I'm sure loud ass amps is a welcome compared to jet engines and what not. NYC gets good stuff too though!

Hope everyone is doing well. Will anyone in the LA area be attending the Pedal Expo this sunday?

Man, I had a feeling it was gonna be a lot of knick knack shit they get all year from the different companies, but I think I was foolishly thinking it might be different. Whatever, if it helps out premier guitar I'm down with it. I'll just consider a 15 dollar donation to a stellar magazine that provides me with most of my gear content for the year. No tantrums being thrown here

Ok so mine came in today and ended up with a couple packs of strings, a leather strap, a keychain, mad stickers, and some cool pick samples. Definitely worth the 15 bucks.

I think my dream job would be to do what I do now but get to do it from home. Mainly so I could have more time to build pedals, amps, electronics etc. I work at a post-production audio studio for tv and movies. We mix/sound design/record mainly commercials but I do get to work on the occasional film or documentary. We are currently building out 2 more rooms and I get to design the workflow and pick out all the gear that I've always dreamed about but would never be able to afford. I love going to work and getting to geek out with fellow audio enthusiasts but it would nice to be able to just mix in my chonies and post for clients. And while I am waiting for approval It would be awesome to have some time to actually get better at building!
Trust me, as I am ordering and setting up all the gear for the new studios I am taking notes for my dream home studio one day.

The guys at the LA pedal Show were passing out V-Picks last year, and I picked one up. It looked a little ridiculous to me so I put it away until, I was listening to the Amps & Axes podcast (great show by the way) and Vinny from V-Picks was the guest. That show peaked my interest and I pulled out my old free v-pick. You know what, I actually really dig them! I think I got a Medium Pointed, but was just one the website and gonna pick up one of the screamer Models. They are pricey, but in the grand scheme of things, 4 bucks isnt that much for new inspiration and possibly breaking out of old playing habits. Cool things happen under those circumstances. Which V-Pick models are you into?

Honestly I cant remember? From re-reading my previous post it looks like I may have walked away in frustration. I was having problems with the tone pot too. That build was all kinds of messed up. Ill pull it out and check it when I get home tonight and let you know if I ever figured it out.

Did you ever figure out the popping problem?

I'm having the same issue myself.  I have the 2013 edition, and I couldn't find a wiring diagram so I used the old one, which is cool except there is an extra ground connection (or at least I think so) on  the 2013 ed.  the ground connection between the input and output leads wasn't connected initially.   I've now connected it to the center-bottom of the switch and it still pops.

Do i need to worry about stuff grounding to the case?

Possibly the most stressful birthday present ever. I'd recently built my first guitar and my son Dave decided that he wanted one for his birthday. No pressure then. I involved him in the decision making but he didn't see the guitar until he opened the case on his birthday. Mahogany body, mahogany neck and Alnico 8 (yes 8!) high output pickups hand-wound by Ash at Oil City Pickups with coil splits via push-push pots. The finish is a custom colour from Wudtone. I was worried because I expected it to end up a stronger red but it turned out it was exactly what Dave has in mind, so he was very happy. I think of it as the Metalcaster, but he calls it the "Dave Custom". It sounds amazingly good.

Thanks man! Yea he made a stencil. He got the indian (native american?? Indigenous person??...) head image of google and then changed it up in photoshop. He added in the shape of a guitar to make it our own.

Nice build. Curious how your brother finished out the exterior...Stencil maybe?
