Thanks all, losing the filter pcb leaves more space for my big borky amp jewel light. Sweet!

The charge pump is built into the PCB, isn't it.? I didn't use the road rage, power goes from 9v jack to filter pcb, then into 9v pads on main pcb. Why would I need an offboard power supply?

I am in the final stretch of assembling my Harbinger One. I have managed to fit the little filter PCB in, but it's a real PITA in a 1590BB Tall. I've read conflicting threads about the necessity for it. I'll be running the pedal on a 9V Onespot wall wart along with four or five other 9V effects. Any consensus out there? Some say the main PCB onboard filtering is sufficient, but I have to assume Madbean wouldn't have included it if it wasn't necessary.

Build Reports / Re: Univibe - hardbinger one

Nice Job! I'm nearly done with mine, looking for cool knobs, trying to wire in an LED rate light under an amp jewel lens, big PITA, but it will look cool. Looks like you did the 18V version with no filter board? Is your LED  just a status light, or does it blink in time with the LFO? I ended up using a 7/8" furniture leg cap that fits perfectly, lined with guitar anti-rf stickyback foil, stupid easy. I set the PCB height such that the back cover will hold the lightshield in place with no additional hold-downs. Can't wait to finish and try it out.

General Questions / Re: Using Amp Jewel Lights with LED's

Thanks, nice pedal! I found some Fender amp jewel lenses at my local guitar store, but they don't include a backer nut. Might have to get the whole lampholder assembly just to get the nut unless its some kind of standard thread.

General Questions / Using Amp Jewel Lights with LED's
December 13, 2013, 05:14:53 PM
I plan on using a Fender style amp jewel light for the rate indicator on my Harbinger One. I can get just the lens and ferrule on Ebay, or with the lamp holder attached. I went with a 1590BB "Tall" box, so I should have the room either way. Anybody done this? How did you mount the LED to light up the jewel?

Dang that's sweet. I built a fretless jazz years ago out of Warmouth parts, ebony fretboard with maple fret markers. I had the fingerboad expoxy coated by Pedulla Guitars in Rockland Mass. Where did you get the parts? My only gripe with Jazz basses is they are a little neck heavy. How's this one hang for you? I dig the chickenhead knobs. Standard wiring? If I had it to do again, I'd wire Master Volume, Master Tone, and pickup blend for the controls. I always found dual volume controls a PITA. Nice work, do tell.

General Questions / Re: EMG DG-20 Pickup Vero Board

Thanks Hoop! Guess it's time to register for the FSB forum, been lurking on it for awhile, most of the discussions too advanced for my (extremely) limited electronics knowledge, but I'm not afraid to screw up. I have a spare strat pickguard for ruining perfectly good electronics components handy.

Sorry, what is "FSB", is that a website? Can you post a link for me? Much appreciated.

I had the same problem with a Byoc analog chorus, solved by wiring input jack tip to #4 lug on 3pdt stomp switch with shielded wire.

I wired a power jack wrong, cap blew up in my face as I was leaning right over it, lucky I was wearing glasses.

General Questions / EMG DG-20 Pickup Vero Board
November 10, 2013, 02:31:10 PM
I saw a vero board layout for an emulation of the dg-20 EXG and SPC tone controls someplace, lost track of it. I have an old set of EMG SA pickups, thought I might try my hand at a couple of vero boards. Do you think they would fit in a standard strat control cavity?8

Great suggestion, one big old amp jewel light flashing in time with throb. Perfect ! Pcb all populated except for some back ordered caps from Mouser. Can't wait to finish and fire up, will post in build reports. Thanks for advice all.

Yeah, the standard wiring diagrams show either input or output sleeve grounded, guess it couldn't hurt to do both with the pads provided. Any comments on the switch wiring? Why the square pads if the pin out orientation on the switch bodies doesn't matter?

I drew the switches wired just for clarity on the diagram, but I have been thinking about using big clunky old-school switches, which I don't think would work with the PCB holes, so I may have to wire them anyway. I was going to use a 1590BB "Tall"  or a 1790 box to give me the extra box depth needed. Any other comments on the diagram?
