You've got power wired to the wrong lug of your DC jack. You want the middle lug, not the outside one -- that's the battery disconnect terminal.

I made this mistake on two builds in a row before learning not to do it a third time.

- when tinning the tips of wires, have them angled downward so the solder flows *down* toward the tip and not back toward the sleeve

...I've been building for six years and I've never thought to do this.

It only turns to fuzz after you leave it out for a couple of days.

Do people just print the .pdf off at 100% and then tape it to the box of centre punching and drilling ?

I'm doing it all by hand with a hand drill.

This is exactly what I do, and I'm also using a hand drill. You'll want to cover the enclosure in masking tape before you drill so it doesn't get scratched up by aluminum shrapnel.

Also, use a clamp to hold the enclosure in place.

WD40's going to attract dirt and dust and shorten the lifespan of your pots. Next time, use DeOxit.

Don't worry, they still weigh exactly as much as you remember.

Also, 1/4W resistors will always be the same size. Just make sure you're ordering through-hole and not SMT!
