Open Discussion / Where to source these Knobs
February 06, 2014, 04:53:55 AM
I have a Ross Distortion that I am modding. It was a gift to me and came without knobs.  Would these be D-Type shafts on the pots?  If so, who carries them?  Couldn't find them on Tayda, Mammoth, SmallBear or Pedalpartsplus.  Doesn't mean they aren't there though.

Open Discussion / DIY Pedalboard and Case

Funds are limited and making stuff is fun:) Got the hard shell suitcase at Goodwill for $5. There was a larger one (double the size) for $12 but wanted to keep it reasonable.  Scrap wood and nails from the garage $0. Need to get some elastic to secure the wah and volume pedal in the top.  May also secure the pedal board the same.  Currently my signal chain is:
Engineer's Thumb Comp>RC Boost Clone>Klon (Sunking)>Eternity OD clone>BYOC Rat>Multiplex Echo>Biyang Reverb>BYOC Boost.
As much fun as this was, I plan to give it to my son eventually and splurge for a pedaltrain or similar board with isolated power supply:)

Plan on the Egghead with my son.  The retrograde for a buddy of mine that wants to sound like Gary Clark Jr;) The Sparkplug and Collosalus for a rainy day:)

Ordered the Egghead, Sparkplug, Retrograde and Collosalus!

Just what it suspected, there'll all great...need to build them all!  Seriously, I don't guess I'll go wrong any way we go.  Thanks for all the input:)

I think you can add it to any PT2399 based delays.

Thanks Clayford!

I have etched 2 boards successfully but on my last build had two traces lift when mounting the pots.  My son is 11 and want the experience to be as smooth as possible and for him to be as involved in the build as possible.  Figured a fabbed board would be a safer route.  I've done a few vero layouts as well but again prefer the ease of prefab for my boy:).
I guess I'm needing to remind myself that he's 11.  He won't care if I don't pick the most awesomest OD board ever.  I tend to get carried away.  Thanks for letting me think out loud:)

Is the ego driver a prefab board?  Don't see it the main projects page

My son wants and OD pedal.  We recently built MB Sprout Fuzz and he is pumped.  I'm looking at the Sparkplug VS Green Bean.  I've poured through the forums looking at both which has confused me.  I was interested in the Sparkplug because it's not a TS;) Saw some reports of 'fizziness' in the decay of the SP.  Was this resolved in the revision?  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Great job! How do you like the modulation on the JMK tap?  I'm thinking of going this route with a Hamlet Delay board I have.

At this point I'm happy with my deal on a reverb pedal.  In the future I was planning a delay with tap tempo and modulation into a reverb (Tenebrion) all in one.  This will certainly hold me over till then:)

There is also a Tri-Verb (RV-10).  Looks like the same circuit in a smaller enclosure.

I don't have a lot of reverb experience other than amp spring reverb.  If kept in the 'B', it's very nice, especially 'Spring' setting.  Worth the $20 for sure.  But my needs aren't extensive when it comes to reverb.  Once I have my favorite setting the knobs probable won't get moved much.  It is pretty versatile with the 'Blend' and 'Time' Knobs.
