Hi Brian,

I have the 2009 Mythical Unikorn version. Does that need to be modified?

Thanks!! Rowland

Sorry - Traces = writing = etched side.

You are correct. You have to solder on the side with the traces, so components go one the other side. Now fire up your iron and get to work.  ;)

Hey. I checked my slambox and I have components on the black side with soldering done on the side with the traces. If you add your components on the side with the copper traces (where the writing is also) you would have to solder on that side too. You'd also have to reverse the pins on any transistors as those would now be backwards.

Anyway - hope I didn't misunderstand the question - hope that helped.

Thanks for the comments about power supply. As I was reading the thread, I was wondering about that.

What if I was only going to use 1 (maybe 2) at a time, could I use 1 power jack? I've got too many overdrive pedals but like them all. I rarely use more than 1 at a time and it would be nice to pack 3 or 4 into 1 box with only 1 power plug. It seams like it should be OK, but would like to get confirmation.

Thanks!!

I'm Rowland. Probably the only 1.

I refer to this webpage pretty regularly: http://sound.westhost.com/pots.htm#markings

It describes different pot tapers, shows a nice graph illustrating Log and anti-log (reverse) tapers versus linear.

I agree that linear will be fine. I hope that helps.

General Questions / Re: BAT41 source or substitute

I got mine at futurlec based a prior recommendation from Haberdasher (thanks again!). They were really cheap, but delivery was slow.

How many do you need? I still have some left from my Serendipity build. If you just need 3, I can send 'em.

Nice combination. I have both separately and am going to immediately plug them in and play. Thanks for posting the demo!!

Build Reports / Re: Rump Roast

Hi. I finished my Rump Roast build today. I definately agree with Madbean's description above. Iy is a great sounding transparent sparkly boost. It is different from the SHO and others.

I built mine with the switchable overdrive (master volume) / boost hybrid. I like the tone better in the boost mode but it is LOUD. The overdrive option allows you to get to gritty overdrive without torturing the family. During my test run the kids starting yelling that they couldn't hear the TV! I like having both options switchable.

I am not sure about the switch for the tone/cut range. At one setting the pedal sounds very full. The other setting (with a Strat) is thin sounding except at nearly full cut. (I haven't tried humbuckers yet.) But it may be good for some styles.

I never tried a Dr. Z Ghia. I play with a modded Blue's Jr., and this pedal sounds awesome. It is my new favorite. Now I have to rehouse it to make it look nice. :)

Mysterioso Jr. please.

Thanks Haberdasher!
I ordered both the 1n34s and the bat41s from futurlec. I also ordered a OPA2604 which I heard was a better opamp than the AD712.

Thanks!! I put the 46s in and it sounds great.  I appreciate you're fast reply!!

It has a lot of gain with the bat46s. Would the bat41s be more or less clipping / distortion (if that even makes sense)?

Thanks again!!

Hi. I have some Bat46s. Can I use those as a sub? Thx
