Tech Help - Projects Page / Phase 100 not working
June 24, 2012, 10:14:53 AM

A friend of min have a broken MXR phase 100 that I am trying to get working but I think I might need some help with this one. My best guess is to start looking somewhere in the powersupply section casue it just doesn't power up. My friend use a little poweradapter that goes from 3 to 12V. the adapter has a little indicator-light that goes off when I plug it in to the phaser. So my best guess is that something shortcircuets.

Any ideas where I should start?

alanp!

Since I already have a Egodriver and a Muff build plus a fulltone Deja-vibe I spent some time playing with does three in diffirent orders and found that setup to be the best for my taste. If I want the Vibe before the dirtboxes I just use the Fulltone.

Hangingmonkey!

Its just one DC-jack where I plug in a 24V DC into. The AMZ-board regulates this into three diffirent 9V DC and a 22V DC that goes to the neovibe-board.

You should post some pictures of your populated board and the wiring. Both component- and solder-sides. Someone here will surely be able to help you out.

Allso list any subs you might have done.

Thank you everyone for all the response this one got.

The enclosure is a Hammond that I ordered from Mouser, here's a link to it at Hammond's site http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg20CWW.htm
You can search the partnumber at mouser. The enclosure was pretty expensive and I had to buy a bottomplate separately. And after all that money spent I wasn't really happy with the quality of the box. The two wooden sides have brass inserts for the screws but on one side inserts weren't threaded deep enough. The bottomplate didn't come with any screws and while the enclosure did have holes for the bottomplate they weren't threaded. For 54€ I expect top quality for a simple black steel box with wooden panels.

but at least it looks good  ::)

As for the switching there are 3 groups of Input and Output jacks.

I used the switchable jacks that have two solderlugs at tip/ring/sleeve. When there is no cable in the jack these two lugs are connected but when a cable is inserted the signal betwen them breaks. I call these two sides "passive" and "active" So in order for the signal to go betwen the effects when no cable is inserted a soldered a wire from the "passive" side of the output of the first effect to the active side of the input of the second effect. (and same thing between effect 2 and 3).

If I put a cable in the input of effect 2 or 3 the signalchain breaks. This way I can patch the order in anyway I want. Except for buffer/egodriver, they act as one effect

I realise I really cant make myself understood in English very well.

I used these jacks:

This is what I've been up to for the last couple of days.

effect order is:

Buffer - AMZ PCB
Egodriver - Madbean PCB (these is a DAMN good project! third one built)
Pharaoh Fuzz - GGG muff board
Neovibe - GGG neovibe board

Powered with a AMZ power supply PCB
All FX are powered with 9V except the Neovibe, it has 22V

FX order can be changed with patchcables if needed. All wires between jacks and 3pdt boards are shielded and all so the I/O of the muff fuzz. I used a board even for the 3ptd toggle switch that works the optional buffer. The orange led to the left pulses with the speed of the neovibe.

For the lightshield I used tiny cut mirrors that I glued together, The Glass-worker charged me 3$ for a bunch of them.

Now to the decal :D Since I had shouldersurgery 6 weeks ago and haven't been able to work with my right arm I had lots of time to draw this one up in photoshop. Emailed it to a company that engraves aluminium and had it made for the fare price of 40$.
