I had the trimmer in the middle, I didnt even mess with it and it sounds fine.  When I get in the studio and have someone play bass while I tweak it , ill dial it in better.  But for now its money!

Yea those are the ones I have, with the blue dot.  And your right the build picture shows the Macrons in it, so that was throwing me for a loop.  I hope this helps other people having a problem.

Thanks for your help Brian.

Finally got it working.. Get rid of those Macron Vactrols and order you some Xvive VTL5c3!!

FINALLLYYYY!!! I got my NF to work.  It sounds beautiful!

I swapped out those MI1210CLF-R vactrols and got some Xvive VTL5C3 from cabintech for $15.00.

Honestly what confused me is the PDF.  On one page it lists the MI1210CLF-R vactrols in the parts, then on another page it tells you otherwise. I dont even know why they have it in the BOM, but it should be removed from the PDF for clarity.  I think anyone having problems with this build should get the VTL5C3 before even posting anything.

Good luck! and thanks to everyone who chirped in to help.

Build Reports / Audio Test Probe Kit
October 27, 2016, 04:27:06 AM
Just wanted to share this Audio Probe I built today.  It was really simple.  I used a PAM8403 Amp and a small flat speaker in a plastic case with probe plugs in the back.  It runs on a 5v power supply.  I got all the parts at ALL Electronics in Van Nuys.  Only thing I wasnt able to do is put an LED Light on the switch, I couldnt get it to work.  Ohh Well it sounds great and is really portable. Let me know what you think!

Checked all the points you mentioned Kresol, with an audio probe.  I get sound.  The LED light does have movement in every position.

I used VTL5C3 Macron Vactrols from small bear.  Im thinking maybe one of them is bad.  I dont know what else it could be.  Im gonna try and switch the vactrols to see if the problem changes.

Any other ideas would be helpful thanks everyone.

Finally finished my Naughty Fish... Just cant get it to work right.

When the range switch is to the left, I get no effect.  I get signal thru, but no effect.  Then When I switch the range to the right, I get effect.  Could there be something funny with the DPDT On-On switch? I got all the parts from Small Bear.

Thanks for any help or tips you guys can give.

I have to disagree with you guys... I have a real Mutron III pedal, and the Naughty Fish sounds very close, but it seems a bit glitchy and unstable.  A real Mutron isnt finicky with its settings or switches, it just works.  The NF was a fun build, but im still using my original Mutron because the NF just takes too much fiddling around to get a good sound out of it.  My opinion of course.

I was having similar problems with my Naughty Fish... this is the on-on-on switch I ordered from mouser.

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CK-Components/7211SYCQE/?qs=%2fha2pyFadujRiaoO1EQ%2fAGeNxHWzQ1rYgv2OL3oJPxZUA623XR5GMg%3d%3d

everyones been saying there are two different types of ON On ON switches, but I havent figured out what the two types are.  Anyone have any idea?

I built my Naughty Fish and was having the same problem.  Im gonna try and order another On-On-On Switch, as Ive been reading around and thats what someone said could be my problem.  My post with pics is on this thread.  I hope you figure it out too!

Hey Cebers.. thanks for replying.. originally I had ordered all my parts from SmallBear except the On-On-On switch, they were out.  So I ordered this one from mouser

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CK-Components/7211SYCQE/?qs=%2fha2pyFadujRiaoO1EQ%2fAGeNxHWzQ1rYgv2OL3oJPxZUA623XR5GMg%3d%3d

Thanks for the info, maybe thats what my problem is, let me do some research and get back.
