Josh makes a good point.  I was able to repair the dryer last August and really got some points from the wife.  I think we ended up spending $20 for a new part after my multimeter helped me determine the issue:)

Wait, I put these in parallel.  The document says series.  So, I'd need a dpdt?  Putting the diodes wire to wire across one pole (2 diodes) and one diode on the other pole?

Building one of these for a buddy and he wants to the option of switching between sym/asym clipping.  Is there a better way to do it than this?
Thinking of putting the diode in a socket, soldering wires to the diode and putting the other diode on a SPST switch.

Clayford, that's very generous.  I'm not really in a hurry though.  That's good info.  I'm hoping to get a handle on this part nomenclature.  I've been building almost a year now and have learned quite a bit but have so much more to learn.  I greatly appreciate you taking the time to explain this so well:)

General Questions / JRC 4580D Sources

I'm trying to find JRC4580D ICs in the US.  I found NMN4580D at mouser.  I'm building a MB Upperdecker.  Would this be a sufficient alternate?

I'm good for the scuba.  A buddy of mine just purchased a couple of HD cameras and is refining his video editing skills.  He's also a fine player.  Might be a cool project for us to do.
Disclaimer:  it might be a couple if months before it's built and ready to demo.

So my voltages suggest a bad IC?
