But ohhh, really sorry to hear about the struggles your family is having! . When I look back over the last couple decades as a family, we had some crazy stuff happen too. Earthquakes damaging our home, career crises, health crises etc. Going through hard times can actually bring a family closer together, I will be praying that this happens for you guys. There's been some great advice in this thread already.... This season will pass... Remember to look after each other!

This should work to switch both channels on in parallel.  I'd invite you to test it works OK, you could use a 3PDT toggle 

What are you making Jimi? Is this a 2 channel pedal? Im at work now, but gimme some time and I can draw up a switching diagram later on.

You want one channel's output going into the other one's input, for series. For parallel, you could try what you suggested with the spdt. The mix might not be even though, depending on the output impedances of the 2 channels.  Could sound fine though, can't hurt to try.

That's  a really interesting idea. Series could be easy enough. Parallel however...would you need an summing amplifier to get the mix right?🤔

It's a reference to The Kinks -- their legendary hit "You Really Got Me" had the guitar recorded on an amp that Ray Davies took a razor blade to, cutting the speaker cone to create distortion.

I think Link Wray was poking holes in his speakers in about 1958 to get a raspy overdrive (about ten years earlier)
