It was a small (?) experiment to see if I could build a couple as sell them off to reduce debt. We'll see if its worth it in the end.

Phew. This has been quite the undertaking. I've boxed two up completely, and four are awaiting the etched enclosure.

I just felt like telling some people who could appreciate how stinkin' long this has taken me. Mad props to Catalinbread and the other fine folks at pedal shops that do this all year round in large volume.

So I'm looking at the following link:

http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.com/2012/01/rockbox-boiling-point.html

and the Greenbean doc (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/GreenBean/docs/GreenBean.pdf)

I'm finding that you could easily use the MadBean PCB to get this circuit about 85% of the way there with simple component value changes, and then the rest of the way some some flying leads for the diodes, etc.

Has anyone tried this? I remember trying a Boiling Point last summer and being really impressed with it, and it felt like a sup'd up TS without all the lame aspects sometimes people don't dig, so this all makes sense in my brain sonically. Was there a reason you went with vero board instead of the PCB from madbean (I'm debating which to do myself, which is why I ask)?

Haha, I didn't even watch the vid, it's just what a buddy and I joked about all the time in school when cyborg topics came up (and in electrical engineering, well, you can guess at that occurrence rate being pretty high).

Really great look! It makes me wonder if you could shellac it with some thinned-out epoxy or something to get the tweed/fabric look of the ol' 50s Fenders. Really cool work!

I'm starting to see the value of using this in anything to replace a pot...modulate the modulation rate or level!

We can rebuild him. Faster. Stronger.

That's an excellent idea, and my hat's off to you guys (Juan and Cleggy and CJ) for coming up with some actually interesting integrations of fun ideas. Really cool.

I'm trying to find the mod board, any links for that one?

Thanks everyone! :)

The finish is a Super Glaze, a pourable epoxy kind of finish. It's like Envirotex, I just found it at the local hardware store for $25 for enough to finish at least 100 pedals, if not more like 300. Two giant bottles.

I've been crunching through 6 builds of the Zero Point SDX tonight, so I didn't get a chance to take a gut shot, I will soon as I'm able!

Indeed! :) And thanks! The decal turned out lovely.

She's a killer. :)

For anyone else who's built this up, where did you find unity gain to be? Maybe I was just playing through my amp really low on the volume last night, but I felt like I had to have the volume up around 2 o'clock before I started getting unity, even with higher gain settings. Thoughts?

(I'll have to take some gut shots, I miscalculated the drilling/decal/blah blah blah, so I had to do some mid-flight adjustment):

Fair enough.

I've found the pitting to be highly desireable, so no arguments there. :)

I've used it before on aluminum a few times, and while this time was a bit more reactive (due mostly to the sanding of the box, thus exposing fresh, unoxidized aluminum), I'm pretty sure this is fairly safe. If it isn't give me the chemistry proof to prove otherwise. Until then, perhaps we'll just leave it at "etcher beware".

I'll ask my chemical engineer brother what he thinks the reaction is.

Worked for me, and I'll perform the same thing outside this next time with more ventilation. Perhaps you read the article I posted? It seems to be something used to etch aluminum. Where are you getting your information from?

Thanks! It really is a great design, full of ambience and really enjoyable tone. I'm definitely one of those people who couldn't ever be satisfied with one single delay pedal, not yet any how, but this one would be in my top 3 or 4.
