August 03, 2023, 08:34:05 PM
Does anyone sell enclosures like the ones used for the new Maestro effects? Not looking for the old sharp triangle type.

It can do that without a sniping program.  I tend to put in last minute bids with my max dollar so I don't keep going back and upping my offer in an attempt to win.  eBay will automatically rebid on my behalf until I hit that max or win.  It can easily generate 17 bids in 20 seconds if there is one other person bidding.  It's just the way eBay's software works.  FWIW, I've never used a sniping program.

As far as I remember, eBay's "max bid" software does not wait until the closing seconds to out-bid someone. For example, lets say someone places a max bid of $100 on an item and they are the current high bidder at $65. When another bidder bids or sets their own max bid of $90, the eBay model will run up and out-bid in favor of the original $100 bidder (like up to $91) to maintain their stance as the current high bidder. It does this immediately. It does not wait until the last seconds of an auction and does not let the second bidder get into the "highest bidder" position until the closing seconds and THEN start to outbid. Sniping programs do this.

What he's saying is that you eagerly wait to click the button till the last second with  your max bid entered in the box. Thats how I've always done it. You have to enter what you are willing to pay. You won't get a second chance.

There's an opportunity for them to use the Sunn  b r a n d to do some """""boutique"""" product engineering and production, where a consumer would expect to pay more and then they can have that freedom, and maybe not cut every corner. They could do this without a costly spinning up of fabrication by using what resources they have, keeping production numbers intentionally low, and only spend the R&D into places where it's required. And by R&D, I mean generating Sunn  b r a n ded elements, grille markers, maybe even a custom tolex pattern if they want to splurge.

Not saying they will take it, but the opportunity exists.
It's Fender... They are not going to do any of that. They will nickel and dime it to make the most money they can off of the brand and then shutter it once it's not making them money anymore.

Is the brand still owned by Fender?
Yes, Fender still owns Sunn. I guess they figured it was time reboot yet another old thing, since pretty much everything these days is a reboot of something that came before.
Since Giibson has Mesa now, It's likey Fender staying on par

I'd change the 10k output pot to 50k or 100k for gobs more output myself.

There is a different fix in the build notes of the aion project. It also adds a charge pump for an 18v switch

"Increased volume

The stock SM-9 is known for having low volume. There are two confusing and easily-remedied design
decisions causing this.
• R19, the 4.7k bias resistor for IC3A, cuts the signal in half when combined with R18.
• R27, the 10k resistor in series with the volume control, halves the maximum volume again.
We have corrected both of these in the default parts list for this project, raising R19 to 100k and
recommending to jumper R27. With these two changes, the maximum volume is comparable to other
distortion effects."

So are you saying that you wired two different sets of pickups straight to the output jack and the popping still happens with both sets? If that's the case, it doesn't seem like the issue is in the guitar at all.

well, theyre in the guitar and I did resolve it with a body grounding solution, so I think it was in the guitar so to speak.
Ok, sorry, I did not realize you resolved it.

Haha... This!  Nobody's ever gonna see inside the box. :)

I had the acoustic variax 700 for a while. The build quality was really great, the sounds coming out of it were underwhelming.

Thanks for sharing. I just have pla+ so I'll see if that good enough
