I found this comment from someone working to make a Twin Peaks with a v3 chip:

If anyone is building this with the new TapLFO 3D chip there's some minor changes that needs to be made.

"1.Remove Crystal and the two 22p caps next to it.
2.Remove 10k on Pin 4
3.Remove 10k on Pin 8

And since the new chip has 16 waveforms (2x8), you can put an SPST switch on pin 3 to ground to alternate between the two sets."

This based on a vero version of the circuit, but a couple comments suggest successful builds with it - http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2015/10/twin-peaks-tap-tempo-tremolo.html

Open Discussion / Re: Small & 'Weird' Effects

One of my favorite "weird" effects is the Clari(not). This weird, enveloped-floppy-tape echo... thing. I've made several for friends over the years, and it's a pretty simple build.

Build Reports / Re: Redshift Phaser

Perhaps you know the answer to this.

I contacted Aion but haven't gotten a response, but any idea if this is based on the v1 or v2 of the Whetstone? I know the v2 was "improved" but haven't really seen any specifics past that, and I'm just curious.

Stay safe man, that is not cool.

Yeah, and to compound matters I had fairly major dental surgery this week, so my immune system is kinda working overtime as it is.  :-\

I'm spending a lot of time just hiding indoors, only shopping at the one store I know for a fact is actually enforcing mask wearing (whole foods, plus it's in walking distance, bonus)

AZ is currently sitting at 89% ICU capacity (as of this morning), with 3591 new cases and 45 deaths in the last 24 hours. Wheeeeeee....

As an Arizona resident I've been hearing "kung flu" a LOT this week, because it was literally being CHANTED at the Trump rally last Tuesday. Also, apparently, no one knows what the "19" in COVID-19 means!  ::) (I don't want to live in this state anymore...)

I too have had a few dentist appointments this past week, but they've been pretty good about it. Everyone is masked, 6ft between seats in the waiting room, and they take your temperature as soon as you walk in the door. (Granted they also tacked a 10$ surcharge onto the bill for "COVID PPE" but eh, I can live with that)

One of my favorite youtubers has done several vids on old background music systems. Mostly focused on older tech, but he has a few vids on more recent stuff based on standard casettes or fidelipacs (I'll let you dig those up yourself if interested):

My state is basically totally reopened... and it's kinda terrible. Our new infection rate per capita is the highest in the US right now, and... yeah.

We've been averaging more than 3,000 new cases a day for a while now, and.... yeah. And Next week I am expecting to see a large spike when the folks who attended the Trump rally last Tuesday (which was a small, crowded venue, full of non-masked folks loudly vocalizing).

Wheeeeeee  :-\

That's great Thanks! I'm gonna dig into that

Looks like the YouTube demo in the other post went missing. Anybody happen to have the link?

If you quote the message the link is still there in the text,  it just uses the old tags that no longer function

General Questions / Re: Clock on DEFX Flange-A-Rama

You can drive the MN3102 pretty damn hard, it's own datasheet lists an example at 1.4MHz. May need some additional buffering and whatnot the higher you ramp the frequency, but presumably the circuit has taken that into consideration (those gurus at DeadEnd are cool like that)

I've only found one FV-1 spring patch, and it was paired with a tremolo (and I wasn't well versed enough with the language to snip one out from the other). I'm not on my home computer at the moment, so not sure if I have access to the file, but I'll dig a bit.

But anyway, given the Topanga itself is an FV-1 effect, it's obviously possible. Just need to figure out a way to replicate what they did.

edit: Ok apparently I attached the .spn file to an earlier post of mine: https://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=28504.msg276515#msg276515

edit again: Original source for the file: http://www.spinsemi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=598#p3175

I swear I have a memory of someone on this board making a pedal circuit in a similar fashion. And I can't remember enough about it to find it anywhere. Curse my brain!  >:(
Possibly, you are remembering mine:

I still haven't finished the enclosure (I've mentioned before that this is where I struggle).

Yes! That was it, thank you for letting me know I'm not going entirely crazy.

That actually looks handy and much easier than trying to find a signal source
Use a looper

I use a teeny tiny little white noise generator circuit via alligator clips to the input. Doesn't do much more than hissssss into the thing, but it's enough for me to tell if sound is making it through. Not super great for delay type circuits, admittedly, or really anything where the attack and decay of a note are important, but I'm lazy and it's done its job so far  8)

And of course, my oh so high tech signal probe.

This new device... yeah it seems somewhat more "fully featured" shall we say  ;D

Open Discussion / Re: What are you playing? (games)
June 12, 2020, 02:54:41 AM
Bought "Fire Emblem: Three Houses" earlier today and.... it's silly to say this, but it is irksome for a very silly reason.

The game play is fine, the story and writing are fine, and it has been fun so far overall.

But... it seems they used a ton of the same voice actors as one of my all time favorite games, Persona 5. So it keeps pulling me out of things when I hear Morgana's or Haru's voices come out of these new characters.

My brain is a very silly place sometimes....
