General Questions / Re: Small Bear vs Tayda
September 17, 2022, 08:14:27 PM
I use Tayda a lot as well. Over the past several years I've had one bad bag of electro caps from them that caused a few big headaches, but other than that all has been very good.

I get most stuff from them, I like getting enclosures and switches from Lawrence at love my switches. There stuff if a nicer quality than tayda, and for mechanical stuff like switches that matters (to me at least). I occasionally order from smallbear if there is something more specialized that I need. They are a true gem.

Mouser is also very, very good, but doesn't have quite everything you can find at tayda that people end up using for pedals.

Yeah, that faceplate is amazing and nails the vibe of the original!

I'm actually kind of surprised, that stuff is pretty much as old as strats are and (as referenced before in the thread) things went very different for Fender when they tried something similar. I wonder if they'll try to revisit that case.

Either way in the last couple of years there has been a lot of innovation and novel designs that have popped up. Lots of people are making cool looking guitars that aren't Strat, Les Paul or whatever's.

This sounds like a job for Scruffie

Audio/Video Demos / Re: EagleCAD PCB design video

Very cool to watch Brian, thanks for putting the together. I haven't messed with Eagle much, but just watching this makes me realize I have a LONG way to go if I get back into it.

A good place to start is making sure everything is properly grounded. You might reflow the solder on all the ground connections.

You should move this to the tech help thread in the Parasit studios sub forums btw.

And does any sound come through in bypass?

Check the connections on that little stomp board to start. It looks like the output jack might not be connected.

We are gonna need more than just that to help you. Take a quick look over this thread, it lays out what is most helpful to post along with tech help request

At the minimum we need clear pictures of both sides of the board and all of the hookups.

That sucks, take care man! In my experience even a mild case was like having a bad cold.

Mouser is good for most stuff, but they don't quite have everything you'll need. Generally between them and Love My Switches you can cover everything you need.

Very cool idea Brian. It's been a long time since I've seen TOD but I think that guys dirt is straight up cranked Marshall, so something that would sound cool pushing that maybe. Maybe a Rat, Box of Rock, or a 250, something that has enough of its own character to stand out in front of a dirty Marshall.

Might I suggest the cluster fuzz? I mean, if you can find somebody who has the schematic ;D.

I also think he might dig something a little weird, maybe one of Freppo's circuits like an Arcadiator or the Sidescroller mkii (haven't made it yet but it looks cool).
