Open Discussion / Changing user names
September 22, 2014, 05:47:17 PM
Hi all I was wondering if it's possible to change my username? I was really exhausted and looking for help on an early project when I signed up and didn't even think about what to use.

Here is a better picture of the finished project. Fifth or sixth build on vero board, the guys that put together Guitar FX Layouts are going to keep me occupied for a long time. Wish the inside was a little cleaner, but I was woking on a deadline.

Sorry didn't get a chance to post guts until now. The circuit sounds freakin' awesome, very loud and a little over the top. The ten mm LED I found at Tayda is pretty hilarious, it shines a bright light all the way to the ceiling in a well lit room.

Build Reports / Gift for a friend turning 40
August 24, 2014, 01:40:17 AM
I haven't finished wiring everything yet, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

I have a friend who is turning forty at the end of the month and I decided to build him a pedal for his birthday. A little background, my first build was a bazz fuzz that I called The 5-0 Fuzz and my friend thought it was great and went on about how much he liked it.

Here it is The 4-0 Fuzz. It's a Run Off Grove Whisker Biscuit in a 1590b with Very oversized knobs and a 10mm LED. Once I get it all wired up I'll post some more pics. The stencil graphics match what I did for the original Bazz Fuzz.

Thanks man, I might just have to give it a try.

General Questions / Top mounted input/output jacks?
June 30, 2014, 09:15:15 PM
Does anyone know if there is enough clearance to mount jacks vertically in a 1590bb enclosure? Trying to save some extra room in the box.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to this thought this might be a common problem. The pedal is a Grind Customs DeProfundis delay using a verified veroboard layout that can be found here, http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/04/grind-customs-fx-deprofundis-delay.html

I don't have the greatest soldering skills (don't laugh) but here is a shot of the inside:

I'm having a strange issue. I wired up a new build and am getting a clean tone when the effect is on and off. It's like the board isn't affecting the signal at all. I know the switch is working because the LED turns on and off. Any thoughts, I've checked over the off board wiring and it seems to be hooked up correctly.

It's getting a lot better, still one more resistor to switch out (had 75k instead of 750k) then it's on to caps if there is still an issue.

Replaced R11 and things are working much, much better. Learned the hard way that I should check parts before putting them in. I'm still having a little issue with the Dwell control. If it goes past 2 o'clock I get infinite and swelling repeats. Getting really great distorted sci-fi sounds and if I wasn't building this as a gift I'd be tempted to keep it how it is now and see what I could do with it. Guess I need to go back and check some other parts.

The PT2399 is from Mammoth Electronics.

The bands on R11 are green, brown (thicker band), brown, orange, brown.

Here are some pics of the top and bottom of the board. I'll try to get the readings posted later today. Thanks everyone for taking the time to help out.
