Global Annoucements / Re: Important: Read This, Please

Hahaha, one of the first things I thought. "What about the shop contest!"

Just saw it again, this time in Imax 3d. I generally don't enjoy 3d but it definitely didn't hurt here. There was one sequence, where Finn and Rey escape in the falcon, that was shot in 70mm so you end up with a lot more in the frame on Imax. Definitely worth going again to catch that if you have a chance.

Still digging it after a couple viewings, not a perfect film but it was lots of fun.

Build Reports / Re: Should I box this?

I say box it up, for no other reason than it's a personal landmark.

You could always swap it out for an improved design later and you might find some mor quirks you want to change once you get it on your board.

Your enclosures are alway so killer, it'd be ashamed to not see your full vision realized.

Build Reports / Re: Wolfshirt build report

Thanks Jimi. I have put the stomp on one side or the other of all of my builds. I kind of like the look, and it generally leaves more room for lettering. I've done most of the lettering using cheap stencils so I can't get it very small. I should probably figure out how to etch or do waterslide decals, but I just haven't wanted to invest in the materials yet. Rather invest in other stuff to build. It's all about the tone right now. I'll figure out the other stuff later.

Feel like I should have given it a different name though, it's supposed to be 3Wolf Moan, but a few people have pointed out to me that it doesn't read quiet right. Maybe 3 Wolf Tone instead. Oh well

Thanks man. It's not actually my second build, just second build with a PCB. I've done about 1/2 dozen builds on vero.

Build Reports / Wolfshirt build report
May 20, 2015, 03:23:24 AM
This is my first build with board mounted pots, and my second PCB build overall. I usually build on vero but the mounted pots do make the off board wiring super quick. I forgot to put in a LED, this was my first build in several months. I'll add it when I put in the octave switch.

It sounds great but it is really LOUD. I used 2n3904's instead of 2n3565's, although I might switch them out later to compare the sounds. I thought the octave sound would cut through a little more, but I'm happy with the build. The electrolytic caps I used were a little to tall and so the case can barely close.

General Questions / Re: Wolfshirt octave switch
May 16, 2015, 11:17:14 PM
I think I'm going to box it up and just add the switch later if I decide I needs it. I don't have the switch now and don't want to make an order for just one switch.

Nice avatar dalliius! Very Sonic Youth.

General Questions / Re: Wolfshirt octave switch

Sorry I should have been clear here. I'm thinking of having the octave on all the time, like the build doc suggest.

I like the "weird" names, although I don't always get all of the references. I'm thinking of calling the wolf shirt Three Wolf Moan.

General Questions / Wolfshirt octave switch
May 16, 2015, 01:58:11 AM
I'm getting ready to box up a Wolfshirt and I can't decide if I want to add a switch or skip it. I already have a few Fuzzes on the board that I'm happy with and the next thing I have on deck is a Mangler (Fuzz Face). Anyone have an opinion about the fuzz from the Wolfshirt? Does it stand out among Big Muff, Fuzz Factory, and Fuzz Face?

Nice build! The ground wiring looks fantastic! What kind of Jacks are those? They look handy for tight builds.

Nice, your stuff is always so cleanly done. Out of curiosity how do you paint the enclosures, is it acrylic paint? Model paint? I assume you do a clear coat over everything too.

Wow, thanks Rob I wasn't 100% on that particular example. I still have a lot to learn.

As I understand it a pot is a variable resistor where the highest resistance is at the lowest setting. So with a volume knob, for example, the circuit would give the same volume with the knob at ten as it would not having a volume control at all. As the volume knob is lowered the resistance increases and the volume is decreased.

If you increased your sustain pot from, for example, a 100k to a 250k you wouldn't see a difference at the maximum setting but set to zero on the 250k pot you would have less sustain than would be possible with a 100k pot.

Open Discussion / DIY analog delay
October 04, 2014, 01:44:58 AM
Any one have experience building a analog delay. I've built a few pt2399 delays, really like the Grind Customs DeProfundis, just looking to try something new. The Aquaboy Deluxe looks great but I'm looking for something without the modulation. Was there ever a non-modulated Aquaboy? Any recommendations for a project?

Open Discussion / Changing user names

Hi all I was wondering if it's possible to change my username? I was really exhausted and looking for help on an early project when I signed up and didn't even think about what to use.
