That was a pretty smart idea. Congratulations on getting it going.

General Questions / Re: Project Suggestions

I just finished the transponder, pretty easy delay and it sounds great. The laureate jr is pretty simple looking, and any of the muffs. I would go with a big muffin variant first then move on to phasers.

Send her to UT Knoxville, its a "short" drive.
Truth. Her brother went there, I think she's looking at that one.

Quote from: jimilee on July 22, 2024, 12:40:33 AMWoohoo!!! Enjoy. I just got back from my first vacation in about 5 years. Spent a week in Nashville.

I'm hurt :)
My apologies. I knew how busy you were, I didn't want to bother you.

Aww, no worries. I've bailed on you a couple of times. But, I will make time next chance you are in town. Our timeline for leaving TN appears to have moved up by a year so we gotta.
I'm down with that. I picked up a few new guitars whilst perusing the city. Got an inspired by Gibson Firebird I and a Goldtop Vintage V100M.

Quote from: gordo on July 14, 2024, 12:49:27 AMI'm kinda stoked.  Now that I've moved my output is zero while I get caught up on music store repairs but I have some Aion, PedalPCB, and MB boards in the queue and I'm finding that just taking my time and not having access to all my parts and tools on a daily basis has made me appreciate this a bit more.

Got to (slowly) get back in the groove and looking forward to new MB stuff!!
Welcome back!

Open Discussion / Re: Odd pickup combos that work

Quote from: Micpoc on July 07, 2024, 03:50:05 PMYep. It's a great example of why the notion that "Leo got it right the first time" does not really hold water, IMO.
The funny thing is, the main reason the metal cover is on a Tele neck pickup is to supposedly reduce noise. I found it's actually more quiet with the cover off! LOL. So it really serves no purpose whatsoever. And that guy Dumble...he seemed to do very well changing Fender designs a bit, even though they were "right" the first time.
Hell, Jim Marshall tweaked the 5f6 circuit that Leo did right in the first place, and did quite well for himself there, too. G&L guitars were what Fender was supposed to be. Leo got that right the second time.

Quote from: wakejyles on July 11, 2024, 06:26:16 PMFinal update since I don't know how to delete a post: I traced the modulated audio signal to r21, which is where it stopped. I swapped out c14 to see if that made a difference and took r21 out of the circuit entirely. That seemed to fix the LED always on issue for some reason, but I still wasn't getting any signal. I noticed that signal went into one leg of the cap at c14 but didn't come out the other, so I pulled that leg from the circuit and took the probe to it directly and was able to get a signal.

Ran a wire from that leg to the output section of the switch and it's good to go!
Nice job! We will leave the post up just in case someone runs into something similar.  Did you or can you, with your DMM, check continuity between c14 on the outpad?

Quote from: jimilee on July 07, 2024, 04:44:49 PMWow, that thing must put off some serious heat.

During a show, cranked, definitely. The chassis has a fan!
I'm sure. I used to run a bass stack, I can only imagine the heat. I cracked a circuit board one time. Well twice, really. Finally had to replace it.
