I got one as well.

Don't give up on those bypass loopers man, I have one and it's my most useful pedal!

Here, follow this lead

http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Buffers%20Switchers%20Mixers%20and%20Routers/Feedback%20loop.gif

or, this if you want LEDs

http://aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=2587&g2_serialNumber=2

You can do it!
And you will experience some truly unique sounds via the feedback option.

Thinking back, I think that the loop was supposed to be a wet/dry blend on one switch and, a series parallel loop on the other. I believe it is possible, but I need a 4PDT to complete it. Also, I've found another work around for what I was trying to accomplish then. Thanks for the links though, I bookmarked them both!

Right after you said '2 boosters' I was thinking Firebomb! I have one and it is very, very cool! Makes your amp sound like it's gonna blow up, without losing your original amp tone. Might be a tight squeeze to get the 2 extra pots and the board in there.....

Paul

It would be cool to each booster in different locations of my chain, before and after ODs, etc. Is the firebomb based on the SHO, or a different boost?

This box is from a failed project that was attempted, but never accomplished, many moons ago.

I think it was supposed to be a true bypass looper and wet/dry loop together, or something weird like that.

Now I have a box with two 3PDTs two sets of jacks and one knob(the light up knobbie can go if I need more space). Every time I walk into my work space, it's sitting right there, staring me down, mocking me for making it the mutant that it is.

I was thinking two different boosters. I already have a lpb1 and a couple germ boosters, both in one box would be nice, but I am sure there are some better ideas. I could also flip the box and do one switch where the pot is and use the holes for the switches for pots.

What say you madbeaners? Any idea of what I can jam into this box? I am ok with using the battery area for circuit board area.

Mods / Dirtbag Deluxe - Reduce Modulation?
May 22, 2013, 03:42:24 PM
I've searched around the forum, and I didn't find any info on this, but if it's out there, I'm sorry.

I've just recently built up a Dirtbag and the modulation settings are only useful to me in the first quarter of the modulation pot rotation, the rest of the pot rotation is much too seasick for me. Any suggestions? Should I switch the Mod pot out for a 100kA?

Saw stars one nite when I smacked my head on the underside of my work bench picking up a dropped part. Wife says I haven't been the same lol. So when I make a huge part order I just blame it on the head injury.

That is so cool having an excuse like that! :)

My wife just asked me how much I was spending on pedals... I think I need to bang my head on something quick.

My girlfriend just asked the same question. I keep a spreadsheet of every guitar related transaction, in and out. I showed her the total once all debits and credits are applied, and she said, "Oh, I've spent more than that on shoes in the last year." Now I am the one who is worried about finances...

I forgot that I once touched the back of my knuckles on my soldering iron. I still have a pretty cool looking scar. When I hold all my fingers together, you can see a line of scars where I touched the iron.

I've only dropped a soldering iron once. Unfortunately it was on a manlift. The weight of my powercord pulled the soldering iron off of my workstation. Destroyed my iron, and melted the carpet a little bit.

Woo! Looks like a relic from the golden age of bbds 8)
Your math is good too btw ;)

Thanks, it was a happy accident.
Good to know someone with most of and Engineering degree(me) can still do basic math... :) To be honest, time in equations always messes with me.

Nice job! I would love to get my hands on a real pair of 3005's but the cost and gamble keep my wants at bay. Congrats on a great build!

I got these last year when Polida was still shipping good ones. I just bought another pair through ebay, and I let the seller know that I have a means of testing the chips. Hopefully (if they actually know which chips are fakes and which are not) they'll send me the real deal. Only time will tell. I've gotten lucky buying BBDs from China though. I've snagged 10 3007s with clock chips, plus this set of mn3005s, and they have all been legit so far.

Build Reports / Dirt Bag Deluxe

Been working hard at this one. I had it finished the other day, but the caps I had on my roadrage were too big so I had to swap them out for low profile caps from mouser, and that took a few days.

I have MN3005s in her, I THINK they are the real deal. I'm getting delay at 122bpm which I believe is 492ms. Hopefully someone who can math properly will tell me if that is right.

I got the graphic from someone here, I was going to etch the box, but I messed the transfer up a little bit, but I liked how it looks. Looks like someone has been loving it for a while. So I decided to keep it. I didn't even clearcoat it because I want it to take a beating.

Also, I left off the LED because I haven't decided which color I want go with, and I was too excited to try it out.

I was once holding an enclosure while I was drilling it out. A 1590BB if I remember correctly. I don't have a drill press, so I hold on really tight and drill with my cordless drill. I was just drilling along, probably had drilled 4 holes already. Was drilling away a 1/4in jack hole and the enclosure caught on the drill bit and spun in my hand. It cut up my whole hand good. Multiple lacerations. Good news is that it was my left hand... my fretting hand.

I still drill enclosures like this, I've drilled 40 since this accident, still hasn't happened again. I got a step drill bit shortly after that accident, perhaps that is why.

I switched out the charge pump from the LT1054 to a 7660(connected pin 1&8).
(Is the current draw of the Current lover too much for the 7660?)
Now, I have no more sweep noise, but now I have another problem.

I'm getting a repeating pop that keeps in time with the rate knob. If I increase the rate, the popping gets faster, and if I decrease it, the popping gets slower.

I'm going to switch C6 on the road rage back to 10uf to see if that helps.

Any other ideas?
#27
Well, the cap swap made it better, but it's still not usable at gigging levels. Any other ideas?
#28
Well gents,

Going from the fix for the Collosalus, I swapped C6 on the Road Rage out from 10uf to 100uf. It fixed the noise at "sleeping family" volume, so I will see what happens tomorrow morning when I kick up the volume.

Some readings are suppose to just one around, I believe that's the lfo working. I have nothing else to offer as far as a solution goes though, sorry.

Haha, I made the educated guess that the jumping numbers were the lfo running, but that doesn't change the fact that my meter is trash. :) It was $3 at harbor freight - you get what you pay for...

Anyone have any word on whether a diode and cap swap like on the Collosalus will solve this problem?

Are you running it out of an enclosure?

Its very noisy out of the box, and ths results in it being hard to set the trimmers.

Thanks for the help - I rocked it before I boxed it, I figured the noise was from it not being in an enclosure, so into a box it went. It's inside an enclosure now, jacks are grounded to the enclosure. I've tried lid on, and lid off, no good either way.

I'm going to post my IC voltages here: My multimeter is trash, some readings jump around, others stay steady. I can re-read if something looks fishy.
