General Questions / Turning a 50k-B pot into a 25k-B pot?
September 25, 2013, 05:47:08 PM
So I have need of a 25k-B pot.  I have quite a few 50k-Bs laying around so I figured...Is it possible to just put a 25k resistor on the 50k pot legs and have a virtual 25k-B?  And if so, what legs do I use, 1 & 3?  I assume this wouldn't work with an "A" to "B" designation.  I know this has been discussed probably before but I didn't see anything.

Another vote for the cardinal.  Just recently built one and even after the honeymoon I'm still in love.  It's just so nice full and round.  It really does sound like an amp trem.

For me the ultimate DIY build would have to be a really good looper.  Whether or not it was based on a Boss RC, or whatever.  It just seems to be unobtainable for the diy-selfer.  And I understand why with the DSP and whatnot, but for me it has to be a looper.  Or maybe a pedal that could pull off what the freeze and superego do.  Inherently it's cheaper to buy one off the shelf but where's the point in that?  ;D

The only thing that comes to mind to me is the lunar module.  I built a vero of it an actually use it to goose my pharaoh muff a bit.  But it's certainly not a boost per se even though I believe a LB-1 is built in.

So is it possible to get the SPST 6 lug toggle switch I have on hand to work on the sharkfin for switching between the SH and the filter sections?  On the build document it shows a 3pdt stomp switch, but i'd really like to use a toggle I already have.

I know when I did the tonepad version of the FSH1 I used the 6-lug toggle to switch between the effects.  So not sure if this is possible on the sharkfin.

General Questions / Lm741 alternatives?
September 08, 2013, 02:11:17 AM
What might some alternatives to the lm741 be?  Don't have any here at the moment and was hoping I might have a surrogate.

If possible depending on the position of the toggles, redrill those holes for pots and then you have a whole world of 4 knob ideas.

Open Discussion / Re: NPD - aka New Peppers Day

We had a taste test at work the other day, and boy do those scorpions sting.  A couple people got hiccups real bad, and one girl said it felt like her ear was bleeding. Lots of fun was had all around.

Not sure if I'd want to punish myself for a video.

I'm sure I could spare some seeds or maybe even a pepper or two.

I used 1/4 watt everywhere with no issues.

I am a hot pepper freak and just got a healthy batch off my plants today- just perfect for heading into the Labor Day weekend.

What's shown:
Serano, Tabasco, Trinidad Scorpion, Ghost, Habanero, Cayenne, a garden salsa, and a couple bells for balance.  Salsa time!

What about those new rail hammer pickups that some of new Reverend's use?  I think stewmac sells them.  They supposedly have been getting good reviews.  Disclaimer, haven't looked up how much they are.  They may be too pricey.

So does this mean you can have a distortion, or filter, or delay, or phase sample/hold?
In which the first listed effect only acts on the sample/hold section?

Does that mean anything?
Would that do anything?

Good point.  I would assume yes. But with delay would the delay time be essentially defined by the time the hold holds and then releases?  Is the SH best served with short delay effects? Trying to wrap my head around this.
