Open Discussion / Re: Foot switch for Cube amp help??
December 11, 2011, 04:13:05 AM
Just a follow up. I built the footswitch tonight with a couple "normally closed" momentary switches and a stereo headphone extension cord (1/4" plug). I cut off the female end of the cord and wired it right to the switches.
It works great. I'm loving the Cube 80.
Thanks!!

Thanks Jacob!!
The first link you posted answered the question. The polarity switch set to the left is normally closed. I should be all set now to save ~ $150 on the footswitches.

Hi and thanks!! I had seen that but I have some doubt about its accuracy. It call for some caps and latching switches. The Cube amp manual specifically says to use the momentary switch setting on the Boss FS-6.

I have seen other post on the net of folks building the FS-5 or 6 with just momentary switches and a stereo TRS jack. But I cannot figure out if the momentary switch should be normally closed or open.

Can anybody confirm or refute the accuracy of the scematic in the link above??

The new Cube should arrive today. I will just experiment and figure it out. I will post back my results.

Thanks again!!

Open Discussion / Foot switch for Cube amp help??
December 08, 2011, 01:23:12 AM
I ordered a Cube 80. It should be here tomorrow. I'd like to build my own foot switches for the amp channels. effects, looper. It uses 3 Boss FS-6 switches.

The FS-6 switches have a polarity switch that should be set to the Left setting according to the Cube manual.

It should be really easy to make these. But I cannot determine if the momentary switches should be normally open or normally closed. Has anyone already figured this out??

Any help or suggestions for building the foot switch would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I would go for a t-shirt.
But if the artwork is made available I might etch my own. :)

I made the same mistake and have 10 of these. Curious to know what that third lug is for.

That is a cool story and a cool guitar. Once upon a time I played Paul in a Kiss cover band. Somewhat ironically, I quit after I started going to church. I bet this is the first time one of Paul's guitars ever goes to church. :)

I really like the look of that. I also love buying pre-painted. I checked out the Mammoth website - they've got great prices for enclosures. I couldn't find a color that looks the "Werther's" that you have here. I suspect it just looks different on the website.

Can you tell me the name of that color?
Thanks!!

I just went to the pedal parts plus website and saw they are offering 10% off today (7/4). Thought I'd share the info. (I am not affiliated with PPP.)

Happy 4th!

Open Discussion / Re: Wasting time

I started building pedals a couple years ago as the result of a broken collar bone. Couldn't play guitar so spent a lot of time on the internet and ended up finding out about DIY pedal stuff. Once I got my arm out of the sling I built a BYOC kit.

Sometimes "wasting" time pays off.

I have had these two Ibanez Icemans for over 20 years.

The first is a 1977 in "Midnight Olive" aka blackish green. I made the really stupid mistake of putting a Kahler trem on it in th early 80s. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

The second is 1978 in sunburst. I put Gibson pickups on it a couple years ago. The bridge pup is Burstbucker pro, and the neck is a P94.

These guitars are solid and play fantastic. They have played many gigs including my 2 year stint in a kiss cover band. I don't play them much these days as I recently bought a Gretsch Electromatic and am in lov ewith that.
