i kinda wish we had one more. But, my wife was already over 40 when we had #1. I'm hoping there will be a grandkid in about 15-20 years before I croak 

Thanks mate.  Yes, over 40, this one has taken more of a toll (on my wife) then the first 2.  But...joseph is an AMAZING sleeper.  He's awake for maybe 1 or 2, 3 hour stint a day, but usually just falls asleep after his bottle.  He's like he's older brother who was the same.  Our 2nd, well, she was something totally different ... "the hooooorrroor...."

Thanks guys.  This is number 3.  My wife and i felt like we werent quite busy enough.  :|  "ha"

Its new baby day!

Joseph was born yesterday 2:00pm.  Mum and bub are doing well.  He's a cute little bugger, im sure thats just not parental bias?

I have turned off the store for a couple of days, if you need anything you can send me a message through the store and i will attend when i'm back on deck.

Millennials aren't interested in DIY for the most part, they're a pretty disposable generation.

Or is this going to be one of those days where someone learns that millennials are almost 40 years old now? Birth years are 1980-1995, which I would guess accounts for a very large percentage of the people here.

I would agree with Jon on this one, if we are talking "millenials" by definition.  If we are referring to generation Z, well thats a whole different story and with a different theory. See extract from youtube analytics.  Sure, its youtube, but it still gives you an insight into what age group is searching for DIY pedal info

No seriously, for me its creating something unique.  Sonically, physically, visually (youtube), pcb layouts, experimenting, finishing the enclosure etc etc. The reason for the enjoyment always comes back to the same thing.  Its a creative channel for me, like music and guitar.  It took me many years to realise this was the deep purpose of pedal building for me personally.

From a retail perceptive on the 'industry' i would actually disagree.  I cant talk about other stores, but I personally have never been busier.  Part of the reason im not on the forum as much these days, just trying to keep up with it all...

I agree, there are more pcb designers these days then 10 years ago, but i think thats more to do with the ease of fabrication and cheap cost to fabricate prototypes etc and accessibility more then anything.  Infact, it kind of confirms the hobby isnt slowing down.

Lastly, i recall seeing a thread on another forum, approximately 10 years ago, also announcing the end of the golden age (he used the same term).  But, we're still here

Well, that sucks John, your an asset to the community.  Glad to hear we will still see you around though. And you never know when that pedal itch might need scratching again? just kidding, all the best mate.

Wishing you the best mate, that sounds like a hard slog.  Its easy to underestimate the effect long term health problems have on your mental state.  How slowly it takes effect, so slow sometimes you dont even realise the dark tunnel you have been travelling down. But even if your condition is a lifelong journey, there must be ways to improve your situation.  There is always hope of improvement. Hoping things turn around buddy.

One of those giant huntsman spiders from Australia would probably cause me to shit my pants and hit my head on the ceiling. 

Being arachnophobia and living in Australia is an interesting proposition.  I've had 2 huntsmans crawl on at night so far.  Well...they are the ones that I knew about ;-)

Breaking things and somery (descendents) were pretty good, i listened to those a fair bit, but Pummel was the stand out for me, it was an awesome album. 

I listened to it obsessively at a...tender...time in my life (i was hurting pretty bad).  Some deceptively dark content on that album.  I still find some of those tracks difficult to listen to 15-20 years later.

You can of course "roll your own".  If you do, try use lexan instead of plexiglass.  Its easier to sand and less brittle.
