Is the tap tempo chip available anywhere?

If you have a PICK-IT or similar device, you could burn your own. The TAPLFO asm and hex files are available on ElectricDruid's site, you'd just need to lay hands on the PIC16F684 chips.

I actually own a William Shatner album. Each track is half him doing spoken word renditions of play soliloquies, half pop covers. He loses his god damned mind on some of these cuts. (The transition from speech to song is at about 3:50, and yeah, give it a listen.)

I also picked up a used copy of Oingo Boingo's Dead Man's Party the other day.  My stupid brain keeps thinking it's Jack Skellington singing and that always makes me smile a little.

DiabloChris6 has done a modified CS-9 clone in the past (the "agua net" chorus), but it isn't an exact replica (mono out, for example).

I suspect it won't make such a difference with chunky through hole components, though.

I found it helped with my through hole stuff as well. It holds heat like a champ, and I find it more "comfortable" to use than my old pencil iron, both of which helped me clean up my somewhat shaky technique.

Your mileage may vary of course, but I love my 888 (though I really should replace the brass sponge one of these days, it's getting rather lumpy)

What is the affect / benefit of having a 1uF metal film cap with a 1uF electrolytic cap in parallel on the output, why not just a 2.2uF Cap?

Hmmm... Could be a resistance thing (a couple small caps has a lower ESR than a single large cap)? Granted at typical pedal voltages/frequencies that is mostly a non-issue, but "thou shall not question the mojo" I suppose.

I taught microbio lab for a couple years at the uni. One of the first things we teach (seriously, day one, bullet point 2) is how to properly wash your hands. We did it literally multiple times each meeting.

And I was still correcting people's form at the end of the semester.

If folks can't follow safety rules in a class literally designed around "how to deal with potentially pathogenic goop", what on earth makes them think the rest of the student body will.

Honestly not sure if I'm glad the furlough nonsense meant my contract wasn't picked up this semester or not. What a mess.

I was under the impression that tip is ground - there  is continuity only tip to tip.

I'm afraid you have it backwards: Tip is signal, sleeve is ground. 

I have mine, but alas Tayda parts meant I was never able to actually get the full sweep out of it. I can get the slow side but then it won't go high enough, or visa versa. Still works, and if I didn't know better I'd say it was lovely, but it has always just bugged that little bit.... 

One of these days I'm going to build another one with actual decently spec'd parts and some 25 turn trimmers wedged in there to save my sanity.

I sometimes wonder how the video game landscape would look if the Jack Tramiel hadn't gotten involved and tied everything 7800 related up for 2 years. The console had a lot of potential to compete on even footing with the NES, hypothetically at least (other than it's crappy sound chip I suppose).

My state's governor originally forbade Cities/Counties from enacting mask ordinances. Thankfully he backtracked on that when we started topping 3k new cases a day (which has been everyday for more than a month now. Wheeee.)

My town is one of those with mask rules in place, and.... yeah I hear people LOUDLY complaining about it at times. Not super common, at least not the places I regularly shop, but it is really disheartening. Home depot was the worst of it so far, with some guy at the front door yelling at everyone who was walking by him. Ugh.

In similar news, Georgia's governor just enacted a similar thing today, cities and counties cannot force mask wearing rules. Is this really the time for this nonsense? 

By contrast, Billy Idol performed at the end of the evening and rocked it.

Just as long as he avoids stuff from his Cyperpunk album. That was... not great.

I must admit I had no idea the PIC code was available for burning,  that certainly simplifies things.
