I actually had thus happen on my test rig then noticed my sag knob was on a little, maybe 7-8volts, and my Klone was squealing like a banshee. Once I put it back to 9 volts everything was fine

So long answer, power supply?

I've tried several methods and so far this has been the most organized and easiest to use. Capri Sun FTW !!!

.....What temp are you guys running at for prefabbed boards?

I run around 720.  From the time you turn it on the Hakko can get to that temp in about 10 seconds.  :o

I started with a Weller and went through tips a little faster than expected. I upgraded to a Hakko FX-888 and love it.  Temp control, long lasting tip, built in brass cleaner.

Picked mine up off of ebay with a couple of tips for well below your budget.

Well done Bob.  However, just an FYI Larrivee has been using streaked ( or natural ) ebony for years.  I have and do own both.  Looks good to me either way

I knew it was something like that, but could not remember it exactly  ( not that much of a geek ) so it was Wiki to the rescue.

Nice, that is the correct answer (of course).

Did you know that or google it?
