Open Discussion / Simple Buffer Schematic
March 02, 2015, 10:39:41 PM
I've previously built this buffer on vero, but I'd like to make an etch layout for it. I worked up what I think may be the schematic. Would anyone mind looking it over?

Thanks!

Been playing guitar since 1996 although... I sound like I have been playing since Christmas  :-[

Still wish I could play guitar better though...  ::)

Story of my life.

About two years ago I wanted a SHO, but couldn't afford the price. Found IVIark's Tagboard Effects and built one on vero. Then started building for buddies and never stopped.

Maybe the Sparkplug (Barber-based). I haven't tried that pedals specifically, but I've played a bunch of Barber pedals and they are all great and clean up really well with your volume knob.

Open Discussion / Re: Reuse Enclosure After Bad Etch

I went down and picked up a hand sander and some more sand paper. The bad etch came off in about 2 min. with the 60 grit. I'll proceed with the rest of the grits and get these things ready to re-etch.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Thanks Jon!

Yes, I did sand. It just was a bad print on the transfer. I tried it anyway, but wasn't happy with the results.

I'll give the method you suggested a try.

Open Discussion / Reuse Enclosure After Bad Etch
February 23, 2015, 07:27:33 PM
Hey Guys!

I had a particularly bad etch a couple weeks ago and I'd like to salvage the enclosure.

Do any of you reuse enclosures after a bad etches? If so, any tips on getting them ready to re-etch?

Sanding materials or techniques?

Thanks!

I understand this is a pretty old thread and I'm not sure what the exact etiquette is on thread resurrection is around here. Don't shoot! I'm new!

Did this project ever get built or breadboarded? I'm working on a fairly similar project and I would really like to know what values are of the two resistors that replaced the original volume pot.

Thanks!

Thanks guys! It was a fun, quick project. Need to get my etches cleaner, but practice makes perfect.

Build Reports / Buzzsaw Fuzz (tweaked Hyperion on vero)
December 31, 2014, 05:47:32 PM
A quick one-off as a thank you gift for my buddy. Hyperion clone with a 2N3904 subbed for the 2N2907A. Etched with muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

I wish I would have made the switch wiring a little neater, but it sounds HUGE!

Do you prime the enclosure first?

I did not. And now that you mention it, the enclosures that didn't crack were painted with paint+primer-in-one.

I took it back down to the metal and bought a can of the same color in Valspar paint+primer-in-one. I'll let you know how it turns out in the build reports.

General Questions / Unwanted Crackling Paint
December 18, 2014, 03:52:44 PM
Hey Guys!

Just wanted to get some insight on a problem I've come across.

When I paint an enclosure, I put a coat on and bake it for 30 min on 150. I typically let it cool for 30 min or so before putting on a second coat.

Every once in a while the paint will mysteriously crackle up. It doesn't expose any metal, just wrinkles up. I think I have it narrowed down to the paint brand (Rustoleum), but I can't say for sure. Have any of you experienced this? Any tips on how to prevent it?

Looks great!  I was expecting green paint, but it is autumn.

Lucky bro in law

The orange and cream scheme was a specific request from him. I would have gone with green myself.
