I played a gig once where our singer kept stepping on the plug coming from the last output jack of my pedal board.  Kept making a horrible popping sound.  I ended up taking the last pedal out of the chain during a break between songs to fix it.

Hitting him on the head with that pedal might have done the trick too.

I prefer my patchbays to be on the side of the pedalboard that is facing the edge of the stage. So if I play on the left of the stage, my connections are on the left side of the board, away from excited singers and myself dancing around on stage.

If Disney Star Wars were to go down in flames that would give me an immense happy, but to everyone who likes it, more power to ya. I'm cool with that too. You like it, good for you! Fans have been arguing Star Wars online ever since they got access to the internet. Debate was heated around the time of the prequels, but at the end we all agreed that pro or con, we were all Star Wars fans. What really pissed me off about the Disney trilogy was not the biggest Mary Sue in movie history, or Han Solo becoming a deadbeat dad going back on his entire story arc, Luke becoming a sniveling little embittered biatch, or Anakin's sacrifice in ROTJ now basically meaningless, no those are decisions taken by the director. That's his prerogative. Would have been fine if Disney had said: Sorry you didn't like it, but this is how we honestly felt the story should be going. You're welcome to remain part of the family. No hard feelings? But no, they had to pull the toxic manbaby card. You don't like strong women and diversity, you are a misogynistic racist troll. Extra bonus point for being called Russian trolls. Yeah, that's a good business model, yell angrily at your fans, you know, the ones who pay for the food on your table? And that is why I want the Disney trilogy to go down in flames. And make the Hindenburg look like it was just a fender bender.

As is often the case, Southpark was right when they did that episode where everybody was willing to ignore voter fraud in the 2012 election, just so Star Wars would not end up in the hands of Disney.

I remember my father having some solder paste with his solder gun iron, but I don't think I've EVER used solder paste myself in my life. Any benefits to using the tin of nightmare gruel?

I can't believe some people need to be told to not try and get a sun-tan on their perineum. (For those who don't know, it's the bit of skin between the playground and the pooper.)

Next thing you know, people will need warnings to not stand on traintracks while taking a selfie. (Yes, I know...)

The world is full of stupid and like entropy it only seems to increase.

Amateurs think tactics, professionals think logistics. It applies to guitar pedals just as much as it applies to military matters. A good pedal board, power supply and cables are a hell of a lot more important then OMGZ I MUST HAVE THIS NEW OVERDRIVE!!! Although I reckon you have to go through your sprawled out collection of daisy chained pedals before coming to the realization that A: I need something better then this and B: what do I actually need in pedals and how am I going to fit and power that on a board?

IMO, any fuzz that won't work after a buffer is just a poorly designed circuit. Like Juan said, look to the muff family or if you like the FF topology, look to Skreddy circuits like screwdriver and lunar module.

I fully agree. We no longer live in the 1960's when men had barely set foot on the moon. It's 2019. We can build probes that can visit worlds in deep space. Surely we can build a fuzz that plays nice with buffers and acts like it should act behind a buffer. To not do so is lazy design.

For guitar you can't go wrong with the Violet Ram, if the dude plays bass you can't go wrong with a Green Russian. Whichever version you pick, be sure to include a Skreddy style mids switch on them. Those make the instant difference between disappearing into a mix and bam! There you are again! Mids switches should be mandatory on Muffs IMHO.

YouTube has a live video feed with chat thingy. As far as Skype goes, I think you're only limited by your bandwidth.

Does this YouTube feature still work/exist? I used to use that for a book club I'm in, but I think that something changed and we weren't able to use that functionality in the past few months?

Youtube live chats seems to be almost all many youtubers do these days. It seems to be a format that youtube pushes the creatives for and which many of them like as it means getting donations from their followers. Which after the recent adpocalypes and video demonetizations becomes all the more necessary for many youtubers.

You know who won in that movie right?  :P

Come to think of it I can't remember if I ever ordered from Mammoth. They got some stuff I'd like, but whenever I felt like ordering, when it was time to check out and saw what they were charging to ship to Europe I went I don't think I like that stuff that much. I'll see what's on offer on Musikding.

You mean everyone's daily ritual isn't wake up, coffee, puup, check DIYSB and MB forum?  ;D

I'm not a member of DIYSB, I think I am on FSB but I can't remember the last time I checked there, I check MB only when at work (to pass the time when the boss is not looking). And as I got an Axe FX I spend most forum time on the Fractal forum now these days. And also I don't like coffee. Vile tasting stuff.   :-[

What a crappy friend.

Friend is a relative term it would seem.

Rule of thumb, when lending gear to friends/bandmates/other musicians, get it back ASAP, for if they have it too long they start thinking its theirs.

QuoteMy sister's younger cat likes drinking falling water from running taps, so she bought a cat water bowl with a built in fountain. (It runs off USB, which I guess dodges the whole international power supply issue.)

Fill the reservoir, plug it in, off the water gurgles. And the cat?

Intense suspicion.

I come back an hour later and the cat has a dry face, a wet tail, and there is water all around the lino around the new water bowl fountain.

Cats...

I used to have one who loved taking a nap in wash basins. And who had discovered that if he licked long and hard enough at the faucet water would come out. And he sometimes did it while lying in the basin, getting water splattered all over him.

I miss the little bugger.  :(

I'm going to say Not Small Bear or BLMS based on their responses over on DIYStompboxes. I think we are a thorn in the side of Mouser and Arrow. I'm going to go for an oddball - Stewmac.

You can't just drop a bomb like that and not explain as to what happened on DIYStompboxes. Not everyone goes there.

It's a jFet tester for measuring vgs. Looks like the one that came with the first version of the NomNom.

I think I ordered a NomNom just to get that tester board.  ;D

Chef's salty chocolate balls would also have been acceptable.

I think the real reason for the massively inflated price is that Internet lore says SRV used/touched/breathed on a TS-10 at some point. So naturally, if you get a TS-10...you will become SRV.

That's the unwritten internet law of tone chasing. Only if you get the exact same gear as your idol will you sound like your idol.
