Does anyone know of anywhere else that sells the pots to accomodate the LED? Postage to Australia from Mouser is unfortunately not worth it (around $30 minimum).

Have you tried to get them directly from Alpha? Let me know if it's cheaper that way

There's one that's already nearly complete. I posted about it a couple weeks ago. It's not the SD, but along the same lines. It's called the "Sparkplug".

Any idea when this one will drop? I would love to build a SD type clone :)

Build Reports / Sunday Drive
June 02, 2011, 08:12:43 PM
The "Sunday Drive" is my 2nd Two in One build. It's a FatPants (EchoPlex) w/mod and a Quasar (Xotic RC Booster) in one enclosure. Thank you so much to Jacob (JHS Pedals), Fastocker, and Brian for all your help!

That colour!!  :o

+1. Seriously man that color is straight up amazing. Is that a DIY job as well or did you get that from like PPP? I'm now convinced my next pedal is going to be mint green.

I actually got the enclosure painted and drilled at www.mammothelectronics.com. The actual color is "Seafoam" but it's close enough to Mint Green especially when you add those brown "Recess Peanut Butter Cup" knobs

Here are some links:

What I like about your pedal in 100 words or less by Cdog...

Mint-choc is a winning flavour hands down...  and FWIW I personally endorse the use big-ass caps wherever possible... they add mojo quantifiable by the degree of relative oversizing and colour multiplied by mystical NOS qualities...

Nice job dude  8)

Hahaha...thanks Cdog!

Very nice and minty! :D

Those little boards from Mammoth are great...I've been using them all over the place lately...

Thanks Kaleb! Yeah those boards save me a bunch of time and they help the insides stay nice and neat :)

I ended up having to use larger capacitors for C6 and C11 than I wanted and have since ordered smaller box version but figured I would post the guts pic anyway :)

Here is the Mint Chocolate Chip Drive! This is a madbean Yellow Shark (BJF Honey Bee clone) I built for myself. I absolutely love this pedal!

General Questions / Re: 5kC pot

You can use a "regular" audio pot but wired in reverse if you don't mind the direction of the pot being backwards.

Can you please explain this more? I was thinking of building a Slambox with a 5kB clear shaft pot since they don't make them as 5kC's.

Thanks,

General Questions / Clear Shaft Pot for LED
May 28, 2011, 06:59:11 PM
Hey gang,

I came across a FatPants thread here on the forum where Brian used a Clear Shaft Pot for LED.
http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=426.0

In the thread a link is provied to purchase them through mouser.com
http://www.mouser.com/catalog/catalogUSD/642/683.pdf

Brian also gave a link to where he got some clear/transparent Chicken Head Knobs.
http://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/amp_parts/P-K700CL

Questions:

In order to fit the Chicken Head knobs, what size shaft length for the clear shaft pot should I use? 13.7mm or 18mm? Does it even matter?

Does it matter if it's (1) One Turn or (2) Two Turns?

Mouser only has 5k, 10k, 20k, 50k, and 100k Clear Shaft pots. Does anyone know where you can get different values such as 25k, 250k, or 500k Clear Shaft pots?

Does anyone know where you can get different types of Clear/Transparent Knobs such as the one that's on the Xotic EP Booster? http://www.xotic.us/effects/ep_booster/

What size LED fits in the shat? I believe it's a 3mm LED but just want to be sure.

Thanks,
Roctopus

I just purchased one as well and have the same questions.
Are C3 and C15 both 510k or 150k?
Also is C4 51pf or 100pf.
Please help Brian :)

Actually, no the wiring isn't going to work right you've got the effects wiring done in parallel, so it will never quite work right. I am assuming you want the usual series effects, right?

All you need to do is treat the next switch the same as the first, just with no jacks in between. Connect the output to jack of the first switch to the input from jack of the second switch. Easy peasy, everything else connects as normal.

Jacob

Thanks again Jacob! Yes, I think I do want to run them in series. The 9v power should be run in "parallel" though correct? I think with my last 2in1 I ran them in "series" and was told it was wrong. Just want to make sure :)

FYI - I'm making a FatPants (EchoPlex w/mod) and a Quasar (RC booster) 2in1

I made the changes you recommended Jacob and it got rid of the oscillation from the second (RC) effect but it's still not sounding right. Kind of weak and anaemic sounding tone. I was thinking perhaps that I wired the pots wrong but I double checked and they look good to me. Any ideas or suggestions? I think the first one (EP) is working but I haven't adjusted the Trimpot yet to see. Right now it sounds like it could have more juice.
