I thought I'd sit down tonight and populate a Runt board I've had for a couple of years.
I just finished, but got to the 100k R13 and realised I didn't have an R13!
That's when I realised that the PDF has an LED pad, as well as a totally different layout to my version. I noticed that R11 on the 2014 is the 4k7 LED resistor, which I've obviously soldered in incorrectly now, how many of the other components are different between the old PDF (which I can't find) and the 2014? :(

Is it a throwaway job?

Hi guys, late here in the UK so I'm not thinking straight, standard :)

I'm building a Green Muff from the pedalparts.co.uk PCB/PDF:
http://pedalparts.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/BigMuff.pdf

Component Changes:
R19 - 10k
C1 - 330n
C3 - 330n
C4 - 330n
C7 - 330n
C10 - 22n

I think I have some serious issues as here are my transistor readings:

Power in    8.71v

Q1
C   4.44
B   0.72
E   0.13

Q2
C   0
B   0
E   0

Q3
C   7.67
B   0
E   0

Q4
C   4.37
B   1.36
E   0.86

Socketed components are currently long-legged...an issue perhaps?

:'(
Where to start? I tried putting a different 2n5088 in place of Q2, still no readings.
I very new to debugging/troubleshooting, so any pointers, starting points etc are very welcome

Thanks

*Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, please move as you think is best**

Hi guys,

Sorry, could I trouble you to take a quick look over the 3PDT daughter board I've put together for my builds?
It's real late here, and whilst I'll take another look tomorrow, might as well let some USA pedal dudes take a look while I'm sleeping ;)

Cheers

All input is helpful
Thanks very much

Tech Help - Projects Page / Vbias Buffer IC?
January 09, 2014, 03:35:42 PM
Hi guys,

I'm working on a pedal/schematic that has a number of Vbias points.  A friend of mine suggested including an IC as a Vbias Buffer.
As a noob, please could someone explain the thinking behind this and perhaps the execution?  ie What IC would I look to use, how would I use the pinout on Eagle, and exactly what I might be achieving over not including a Vbias Buffer.

As a side to this (which may require posting in the Eagle forum), I wish I could have a plane setup in Eagle to connect all my Vbias points, like my GND & 9v, presumably this is where 4 layer points start to come in if tracing space/ board size becomes an issue?

Many thanks

Hi guys,

I've just put this together and it works great:

However, I thought it would be great to have a Bi-colour LED so that I know when it's in feedback mode as opposed to just true bypass mode.
How do I go about wiring that up?  :-[ , I've got the LED ready to go, and it works just on and off, but I can't get my brain into gear to get it to change colour via the SPDT?

Thanks

General Questions / Zero Point Micro

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but anyone know when the Zero Point Micro might be back in stock? :)

Thanks

Hi guys,

New to the forum here, i'm over in the UK.
I've been a huge pedal fanatic for a couple of years, and the fascination has now led onto building them.
Being fairly wet behind the ears, I just blind ordered a couple of PCBs from Mad Bean as my initial experiments, zero DIY electronics experience, just a fairly technically-capable mind and some fast learning/googling ;).
I was over-eager on these builds and drilled the enclosures before the boards had even arrived, which, combined with my inexperience meant I overlooked the SL' capabilities for onboard switch/pot mounting etc.

Egghead:

Loris:

I've definitly learned a lot since these, whilst they both work fine and sound great, I've tried to be a LOT tidier inside the box.  Even had a few friends put in some orders, Muffs, Boosts, Buffers etc, great feeling seeing them on their board! :)

General Questions / Hipster availability?
February 13, 2013, 05:30:48 PM
Are the availabilty dates on the Projects definite? Or are they filtering through?
Am looking to get hold of a Hipster in the UK asap :).

Also, can someone outline the main differences between the Hipster and the Mangler?
It seems that the Mangler is centre positive whilst the Hipster is centre negative? Much tonal differences?

Many thanks

General Questions / Slow Lorris & Egghead on bass?
December 31, 2012, 02:51:10 PM
Hi guys,

Fairly new to the DIY pedal past-time, but thought I'd give the Slow Lorris & the Egghead a try.
I'm a bass player, and while I don 't want to lose any/much high-end, i'd like to try and make sure i'm retaining as much low end as possible on the two pedals.
Could you suggest any component changes on either project that might help? If that's even necessary at all (do both designs retain a decent amount of bass?)

Many thanks
Si
