General Questions / Morning Glory Dies (help)
April 14, 2017, 01:03:20 AM
Hey guys! Haven't been around in a while.  I just built a morning glory based on the tagboard fx layout.  I built it for a friend and really need to get it working soon.  So it works perfectly for almost 2 seconds when as soon as I plug in power and then it sounds like someone is turning the volume down until it's off. It just dies. I've tried replacing the ic and the transistor because I have both socketed. It does somewhat work with one particular 4558 ic, but with anything other than very light picking of the strings and it sounds terrible. And the voltages on the 4558 ic are way different than with the correct ic. Just wondering if anyone has had something like this happen before and if anyone might have any clues to the problem.  Maybe I've just gotten rusty at building pedals lol. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Open Discussion / Stereo Effects Help
May 31, 2013, 09:51:48 PM
I have a couple of pedals that I don't use in my main setup, so I was thinking of building a mini pedalboard rig for my keyboard.  My keyboard is actually just a midi/usb controller for my computer, so the sound comes from the computer (trs).  I could probably set it up by just splitting the signal and running two channels. Basically I'd have one side going through a string of pedals, and the other side going through another.  But I think I'd rather try a stereo setup rather than dual mono (hope I used that terminology correctly).  So does anyone know how I could build a pedal for stereo instead of mono?  Would it require building 2 of the same pedal in one? Buffered splitter on the input and output?

Just got an Eventide Timefactor in a trade!
Pretty excited about this one.  Funny thing... while I was playing with it I had the thought "If my zero point had the tap tempo/preset capabilities that this timefactor has, I'd just build another zero point and sell this."  Out of all the delay pedals I've tried, nothing beats the zero point  SDX.  For those of you that haven't built one yet, you should.  It's awesome.  Thanks Madbean for designing these!  ;D

Tech Help - Projects Page / Kingslayer problem
May 25, 2013, 07:24:06 PM
I recently built a kingslayer.  I chose the buffered version.  In bypass and effect on, the led stays on.  I'm thinking it may be something to do with the switch? I used a dpdt.  I get sound in both bypass and when the effect is on.  When it's on, it acts as a clean boost, the switches don't have any effect on the sound, and I can't manage to get any clipping out of it. The gain pot acts as if it is wired backwards, but it's not, I triple checked, and it just makes the volume louder, it doesn't add any dirt to the signal.  I have 1n34 in D4 & D5, red 3mm leds in D8 & D9, and bat46 in D2 & D3.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open Discussion / dual mode zero point
May 10, 2013, 11:26:14 PM
So I was thinking, I really like my zero point deluxe.  But in a live setting,  I usually only leave it on one mode.  How complicated would it be to use a footswitch to switch on a second mode, almost like a preset?  An example of this would be the mod Jhs :/ offers for the rv5 and dd5.  I know I could do something similar by wiring a switch to a pot, but I'm looking for a little more... preset-like-ness.  I'd like the second mode to have "preset" settings, mainly just for the feedback and mix.  Not sure if this is possible, but I figured if it was, someone here might be able to figure it out.

Build Reports / Zero Point SPDx w/audio
April 16, 2013, 06:42:29 PM
I've had this finished for a while, and it has blown my mind with the sounds it can make.

Notice the little black box to the right.  That's the in/out for it, because I thought I could fit normal jacks in the enclosure.  I was wrong.  I now have the smaller jacks in the pedal.

I'm about to build a kingslayer/ supreaux 2in1 pedal.  The supreaux runs on 18v, and the kingslayer has an onboard charge pump to accomplish this.  So.. can I wire the power for the supreaux to the 18v output on the kingslayer board?  Or should I build a separate charge pump board for the supreaux? Thanks.

Open Discussion / Anyone try this one yet?

I had to try a few different cap values because the one I build got really dark.

I recently built the ZPSDx.  I love the sounds it has, and was considering building one of the smaller zero points.  The ZPSDx has 4 different modes, and I think the others only have one.  Do they sound like any of one of the modes on the ZPSDx?
Thanks

Open Discussion / This reboxed dd-5 looks pretty cool.

Using pickguard material seems like a cool way to get some new looks on future pedals.

Open Discussion / tube amp power scaling
February 17, 2013, 10:33:22 PM
Anyone know anything about this?  Jackson amps' Scarlet 30 has this power scaling attenuation thing.
I'm thinking of building a blackface bassman clone sometime in the future, and would love to add something like this to it.  Also any recommendations for parts sources, mods, etc. for amps would be very appreciated.

Build Reports / PT2399 Delay with tap tempo on vero
April 25, 2012, 06:58:08 PM
Just reused an old box from a rebote delay.  Tape for new letters, and to cover scratches (enclosure from mammoth= bad paint job.)  The tap tempo is a little glitchy.  My favorite part of this delay is the mix knob.  I'm getting some crazy sounds with it.  Here's the link to the layout I used for the delay, It's the pseudo verb one.

It sounds beautifully awesome.

It's supposedly a klon of sorts with an additional switchable fat-boost. I'm quite curious about it. Has anyone tried this?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Rebote Delay Repeats issue
February 26, 2012, 02:07:55 AM
I built a Rebote 2.5 delay recently and it sounds great! But when i have an overdrive or comp pedal turned on, it only gives one repeat, no matter where the repeat knob is set.  But when i turn my Mosfet Boost pedal on, it works as normal.  Does anyone know how i could fix this?
