Hey everyone, I am making a pedal that is very much like the JHS Double Barrel, 2 drive pedals in one enclosure, but I would like to be able to use a switch to select which pedal is first in the chain.  I have seen some diagrams where people are using 3PDT foot switches and are able to achieve this using a 3PDT on/on switch and I'm willing to do one of those, but my preference would be to use 2PDT foot switches (with a Millennium bypass, I would like to use the board mounted layout from effectslayouts http://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2015/06/millenium-2-bypass.html)
So to ask my question in a condensed fashion, is it possible to use a switch to determine effect order when using the millennium bypass instead of using 3PDT foot switches?  Is there a different schematic for that or anything of that sort?
Sorry if this is a terribly newbish question, and thanks for any help.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / 8-Ball Stupidity
May 03, 2016, 01:22:47 PM
This really isn't a question, I just want to show off the stupid mistake I made when putting together my 8-Ball pedal.
Before anything else let me say that the pedal works great (not boxed yet but it sounds really good).  I was putting all the components in the board last night in the short time I have every week to work on these projects.  As I neared the end of my time blocked out for projects I just had to put in the switch and the pots.  I put the switch in first then realized my stupid stupid mistake when I went to put the first pot in the board.

As it currently stands it is going to be really hard to use the switch haha.

I am a newbie at pedal building, I've done some very simple things (AB switches and volume knob pedals) but I want to begin building effect pedals.
I want to start by doing a duel overdrive pedal, I'm going to try using the madbean 8ball and madbean Greenbean effects together to make a JHS Double Barrel style overdrive.
I've ordered the PCBs from Madbean, I've ordered parts from Tayda Electronics, my soldering iron and multimeter are ready for use (even if I'm not super comfortable using the multimeter yet).

What I want to know is if there is any simple advice anyone has for me as a new builder.  Is this a more complicated build than I should try as a first attempt or if I am patient and take my time should I be ok?  Is there anything vital I should know before I get started on this build so I don't destroy anything?

I look forward to having something to show for my work and I look forward to being able to contribute to this community.  Thanks.

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Pulsing Sound
April 22, 2015, 07:37:37 PM
I'm testing my first diy pedal (8-Ball) and am not getting any sound from the guitar through, but I am getting a pulsing sound every second or so, it is very steady.
Has anyone else ever had this?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Newbie diagnosing 8-Ball
April 22, 2015, 07:22:11 PM
Hey guys, this forum and the projects shown on it are great, lots of good help and ideas.
I'm very new to this and for some reason chose the Egghead and 8-Ball as my first two pedals to try, neither of them are working, but my real question is on the 8-Ball.
I made a test box to test out the pedal and hooked it up to test and I don't get any guitar signal through, I do however get something that kind of sounds like a pulsing heartbeat.
Probably one beat every minute or so.  Has anyone ever had this happen?  Thank you for any help with this.
