Tech Help - Projects Page / Runt too dark
October 26, 2012, 11:42:45 PM
Runt
Not bright enough, need more high end/treble
tried various guitars and amps - side by side to a Rat i own....still dark
No substitutions

Can someone lease advise me on what parts to start messing with to get some more treble in a stock Runt.

Thanks

Build Reports / 1590A(s) out of the gate.

Not sure how or why I decided to start my pedal building venture in A boxes, but I'm hooked.

These are my first 3 working builds (snarkdoodle didn't pan out) and they all sound great.
I am a novice and pretty dumb when it comes to the actual circuit, but thanks to all the amazing info here I'm sure I will be learning the ropes soon enough.

Left to Right
Hipster - Very usable fuzz for me. It does not want to be in front of the chain though. It gets very thin and trebley sounding.

Thunderpuss - Awesome!

Runt - Sounds better than either Rat I've owned. it's a little on the dark side, but I'm sure a part change somewhere will help.

Thanks for all the help!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Snarkdoodle issue(s)
October 08, 2012, 07:16:53 PM
First off, Hello and thank you to everyone here. This place has been a huge help in getting me started.
And I would like to thank Jacob for the tester instructions. That is easily the best thing I've soldered and something I am sure I will spend ALLOT of time using.
Although I wish my first thread was a build report, it is in fact a need for knowledge.
I know just enough to get in trouble..........and then I start messing with stuff.

Project: Snarkdoodle
Problem: No output.
When i check it with the audio probe, I get full effect at the #3 lug of the volume, but nothing At #2 or the out of the board.

I was getting intermitent signal at C5, where I had used a 10uf Tantelum, so I replaced with an electrolytic. That seemed to get the effect all the way to the #3 lug, but nothing from there.

Again, I am building with very little knowledge on the actual inner workings of the circuit. I can solder and build with confidence, but as far as component to component workings.........I'm working on it.

Thanks - Denzil
