Title: Has somebody jacked BYOC?
Post by: jimilee on May 09, 2013, 10:22:54 PM
Has somebody jacked BYOC or is it an upgrade happening?

I was wondering the same thing. It seems any link to the forum is bad.

I'm still having issues with this at work, no problems at home though. I wonder if some ISPs or what not are blocking it for some reason?

It's messed up again. I get redirected to some ecommerce site.

They use Yahoo over there and I'm here to tell you Yahoo sucks major ball sacks IMHO. They are a horrible host for them and I've got my own issues with their site myself.

Of course I'm someone who lost a few thousand posts over at BYOC when there was a massive SQL crash so you could say I'm a tad bitter. Out of those few thousand almost all of them were usless by me but there were a few gems I would have liked to have had a few times since then.

Toy think they keep getting hacked or is it just the server / host? Either way it pretty much blows.

Jimi, in the past it was always the host. Heck, Matt the admin there completely lost his ID and all his posts to give you an idea. He couldn't get back in for the longest.

JohnL how dare you mention the word "work" while I'm at work  >:(

Word from the hood is that BYOC is doing some site maintenance.

It appears that maybe they're migrating to the new domain name, and possibly (hopefully) new hosting provider.

I'm really hoping for that second part myself.

John! Where have you been for the past 24 hours? I can't live without you!  :o I spend most of my forum time at BYOC, and I am hoping the "maintenance" is a true migration to another server. They have been doing a number of upgrades to the main site, so hopefully...
One thing they could have done though; I get emails from them periodically about sales and such. Couldn't they have sent out an email blast letting us know what is up?
Also, thank goodness I ordered EFx's effect blade before I lost his site name.

Hey PB, I agree totally. I'm normally just loitering over there but there are actually people who are in the middle of trying to get their builds fixed etc... and I think Ketih made a mistake by not giving people a heads up on this. Just my opinion but I know I would have done so for just like you said, I get emails on stuff all the time from the merch site so it would have been no trouble.

If he ditches yahoo it can only be an improvement. I do like their new merch site though. Looks more professional to me and much more 'up to date'.

I think I have Curt's email. I hit him up to keep running it maybe into next week to make sure he has enough orders to make it easier. I also selfishly may order a few more down the line.

Yeah I am going to extend it out for sure. I even posted it up over here for those who are trapped out of BYOC site as well. Check the for sale section.

Oh BTW according to facebook, Keith says that the site is being migrated to byocelectronics.com and the forum will be offline until I am guessing tomorrow.

I have to agree with yall, I wish there would have been some warning. I am guessing however the site crashed and Keith said screw it and decided to migrate. Keith alluded to the fact that he is hoping that we dont lose any data from the forum.

Anyways Have a GREAT weekend!

Yikes! This has me worried. So it's been since Thursday, supposed to be up today...I really hope nothing bad has happened. I noticed the change in URL...but even with the new URL, the links are still 404'd...

Does this mean we all have to go back to building the Confidence Boost when we are reborn on the new site ?

No, everyone's first build is automatically upgraded to a Flanger as part of the site's software update.
