Title: Not your Grandma's Distortion...T-wrex content
Post by: pryde on April 23, 2013, 09:33:52 PM
Unless your Grandma totally rocks  ;)

Here is Chi-boys T-wrex offering which I aptly named the "Unkind" distortion, well because it is. This is my 2nd enclosure etch  and more simple than the first one I did (Harbinger build) and I think it turned out pretty cool overall.

OK, the sound of this thing def the best super-high gain distortion effect I have built or heard. Just crazy amounts of heavy gain to be had. The boost was wired before dist and it operates as it should I think by adding in some muff/fuzz for a different flavor.

The distortion reminds me of Adam Jones' tone on Tool's Lateralus or 10,000 Days albums. I am not normally into super- heavy stuff but Tool is my exception. So, below is a quick demo with some Adam Jones inspired riffage:

Great etch.  Just curious, do you shoot a layer of clear over that or leave as is?

Thanks. No I just block sand it with 600 grit free-cut for the finish.
