Title: Fat Pants...audible differences between TC1044 and MAX1044?
Post by: highway jones on November 30, 2010, 03:40:56 PM
I only had a MAX1044 on hand.  I did notice the effect was more noisy in the effects loop vs in front of the amp.  Is the TC1044 noticeably quieter?

No. The only difference might comae about in how the internal oscillator is used. Both the MAX1044 and TC1044 have the ability to connect two pins on the chip to multiply the osc. frequency out of the audible range. The SCPA designation has the highest multiplier, IIRC.

As long as you don't hear any high frequency whine, then you are good. The TC1044 is cheaper though: about $1.50.
