Title: Sunking
Post by: Mike B. on May 23, 2012, 07:05:02 AM
So, I managed to avoid the hype as long as I could. I bought a Sunking board from Gaetano a couple weeks ago, and I'm pleasantly impressed with the sound of this thing.

Not the most impressive enclosure but I was proud that it worked the first time I plugged it in.

Great looking guts, Mike.  I actually really like that gold enclosure too.

PPP should just rename "transparent gold" as "Klone Kolor."

Looks very nice. What diodes did you use?

Also, is something special going on with the LED? I looks like it has a box of some sort on the back.

Thanks guys.

I ended up using 1n270's per Brian's doc - actually I think they are NTE equivalents from Mouser. I was going to try a few different germaniums, but I'm pretty happy with the sound as is. The LED bezel is from Mammoth - it has a round retaining clip on the back to hold the LED in place.

Nice build mate and I agree with the others; the gold enclosure is cool.
